An Eventful January is on its way !

There will be plenty happening in the month of January 2012 in Jaipur. And for all those planning a holiday this month, it would be best to consider sitting in the dhoop in the afternoons, and attend a slew of events while you are doing that. For Jaipur, the festive spirit is just building up, and it will be positively buzzing with loads of activities throughout January.  Gear up for cultural events, exhibitions, seminars and other blitzkrieg….


An international road running competition, the Jaipur Marathon will be a month long event showcasing the diversity of 20 Indian states. It is the third edition of the sporting event and it will be a cultural jamboree with around 50,000 participants including athletes from the UK, USA, Switzerland and Kenya.  From January 4-22 2012, this Marathon month will have an array of events including a marathon expo, a pasta party, live music shows, competitions, treasure hunts, firework displays and numerous sporting events.


Jaipur is home to an incredible live music scene. For those who are planning to relish some classical music, this is the place to be at when the Rajmal Surana Smriti Samaroh, from January 4-6, 2012 will bring slew of Hindustani classical evenings to the city. This is one event adored by the everyone in the Pink City, and needs no introduction at all. This year , the fest will witness musicians like Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma with Ustaad Shahid Parvez and Ajay Pohankar who will perform to please the serious music lovers.


Jaipur is going to host an extravaganza of Home decor and interior designing called “The Décor India Show” at the “Amroodon Ka Baagh” exhibition ground from January 06 to 10, 2012. The Décor India Show event is focused on interior decoration, furniture, furnishing as well as traditional handicraft industry.  Organized by SGM Communications, this premier exhibition serves as an outstanding platform for national and international exhibitors to launch their innovative products and interact with their target customers.


Tourists coming down to Jaipur, as such, do not just have the royal forts and palaces to see but also royal games to enjoy. And if you wish to drink in the thrills and speed this January, Royal Rajasthan Rally is the treat for you. Royal Rajasthan Rally 2012 is a TSD Rally that will be organized by Thar Motorsport  from JANUARY07, 2012 which is considered as the best time to visit Rajasthan. The rally will start from Jaipur and will culminate in Jaipur only.

PRAVASI BHARATIYA DIVASThe Pink City will also be a host to Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, slated to be held from January 7-9. Rajasthan will be the partner state of the 10th PBD, and will help the diaspora to understand the vibrant culture and potential of state. The PM of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad Bissessar, will be the chief guest of the event.


There will be celebrations throughout the city to mark the festival of kites, when hundreds of kites would be sharing the sky of the Pink City. Organised on January 14 every year by the tourism department, this unique festival will unite kite enthusiasts from all across the country to show off their skills. This event is a major tourism draw as many tourists come to Jaipur around this time, and celebrate the festival with the locals.


Vision Rajasthan 2012 is one of the leading exhibitions in India. The exhibition will showcase various industries in Indialike Health Care, IT & Communications, Power, Energy, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Hand loom, Real Estate, Automobile, Consumer, Electronics, Science & Technology.The trade fair will held between January15-17, 2012 at Birla Auditorium.


From January 20-24, 2012 literature lovers from all over the world, including some very known names will be flocking to the city to drink in the ambience at the five-day long extravaganza which will play host to over 200 speakers from across the globe who will debate, discuss and read from their works at the Diggi Palace. This event is one of the largest literary festivals inAsia, and this time, you will see writers such as Michael Ondaatje, Fatima Bhutto, Ben Okri and David Remnick here.


More than 40 filmmakers, national and international will be here from January 27-31, 2012 to attend the Jaipur International Film Festival. The Fourth edition of the fest has received 902 films, including documentary, short and feature films from 70 nations.


January will also be marked by high equine action on Jaipur’s polo grounds. The polo season, which will officially be kicked off with Kota Cup on January 3, 2012 will have four major tournaments with four exhibition matches in the month only. Dedicated to late Brigadier Sawai Bhawani Singh, there will be four major tournaments with four exhibition matches in January.  It includes the SMS Gold Vase Cup from Jan 9 to 15, 2012 Mount Shivalik Cup from January 16 to 22, 2012 followed by prestigious Sirmur Cup from January 23 to 29, 2012.
