Rajasthan Cricket Association gears up for IPL 5 preparations, Rajasthan Royals to bring decent cheerleaders


With Indian Premier League to kick off after 10 days, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and Sawai Man Singh stadium are gearing up to become perfect hosts.

This year Rajasthan Royals will play about eight T20 matches in SMS this season.

Like every year this year also Rajasthan Royals has also agreed to bring decently dressed cheerleaders during the matches. This year safe seating arrangements will also be provided.

VAT on Petrol reduced by 2 percent

People of the state reeling under inflation, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has given relief to the people. Presenting the 2012-13 budget, CM Gehlot announced reduction of VAT on petrol by 2 percent, which was earlier 28 percent. Petrol will now approximately cost Rs. 1.50 less. Tax on kerosene has been completely withdrawn. Apart from this, all forms of entertainment has been made tax free. Watching cinema and cable are now complete tax free.

Those who delayed buying vehicles, made the right decision. CM Gehlot has reduced VAT from 8 percent to 4 percent on two wheelers till 125 cc. Cars will also cost less, as VAT has been brought down from 10 percent to  8 percent. Sun glasses also cost less. However, tobacco products in state will cost more.


NCERT books to cost more !


The books for Classes IX to XII will also cost 15% to 20% more from the academic session 2012-13.

According to the council, the demand for textbooks during the 2012-13 session will be around 3.5 crore.
The council had to revise printing charges by around 50% after a gap of 13 years. NCERT is mandated to publish books for the schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and it decides on the print run of the books on the basis of the enrollment data.

The council has increased the price to a maximum of Rs 45 per book for Classes I to VIII. For higher classes, the average price rise has been 15% to 20%.

Looks like we are in for good times again! Come Thursday and the city will witness “Tagorenama in Jaipur”. On March 22 and 23, three events, which are a part of danseuse Mallika Sarabhai’s Tagorenama, will be performed at JKK.

On March 22 the play With Love will see Sarabhai  and Australian director Steve Mayer- Miller create Tagore as he paints, ponders and battles personal demons. Celebrated actor Tom Alter plays Tagore.

The next day, on March 23, the city will see Ritu Chakra and Street of Voices. In Ritu Chakra, Australian choreographer Liz Lea, Revanta and Anahita Sarabhai have created a full evening of dance to Tagore’s cycle of seasons, reinterpreted in contemporary fashion. This will be followed by Street of Voices by Scottish puppetry expert Symon Macintyre depicting short stories using puppets, dancers, actors, film and the real stories of today’s Indian women.

The shows will be performed at 7:30 pm on both days and the entry is free.

No IPL matches in Jaipur ?

This news might just not be a good news for cricket enthusiasts in the pink city. Tug of war between Rajasthan Sports Council (RSC) and Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) due to investigation against players of Rajasthan Royals and unpaid rent of stadium, has raised questions on IPL matches to be played from April 6 in Jaipur. According to sources connected to the RCA and Rajasthan Royals, in  case the high level government did not intervene soon, then the IPL matches in Jaipur, can be shifted to Ahmedabad .

3rd Raj Car Rally with Visually Challenged persons on 11th March

Raj Car Rally with visually challenged persons has now become an annual event in Jaipur, contributing towards raising awareness about the abilities of the persons with disabilities.

Sightsavers and the Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan every year organizes a motorsport rally with a difference; blind and visually impaired navigators will direct sighted drivers around the bustling streets of Jaipur!

Visually impaired people from all over the state will join prominent local personalities in the cockpit to take part in The Raj Car Rally with Visually Impaired Persons.

The rally will not only help in showcasing the potentials of the visually impaired persons and their talents but also demonstrate the solidarity from the citizens of jaipur.

This will lead to social inclusion of the navigators since all drivers and their family members too would become aware of the abilities of persons with visual impairment.

This drive of approximately 3-4 hour through the major roads and by lanes of the city will forge a unique bond between the drivers & their navigators.

Competing in teams of four, local personalities will take the wheel accompanied by a time keeper and writer, but the most important job will be of the visually impaired navigator.

Driving instructions will only be given in Braille, so it is up to the navigators to ensure the drivers know when to speed up, slow down, turn the right way and ensure their team crossed the finish line.


This year event is organized with added enthusiasm, new energy , passion, fresh ideas and of course, number of cars as well!

Technical support of the Rally will be provided by Himalyan Motor Sports Club & S/S Sanjay Sankhala and Prof. Shekhar Verma & Group.

Event is scheduled for tomorrow 11th March 2012!

The Rally will start from Jai Club at 07:30 AM and will end at Desert Trail, Kukas.

Jaipur on top in Women oppression cases

Preceding the celebration of Women’s day in the state, one news has gained a lot of attention.

The cases of women oppression have increased in Jaipur in the past few years. If the figures are to be believed since April 2011 to 6th march 2012 there are about 16007 cases of women oppression have been registered in the different districts of the state.

There are 1557 cases registered in different police stations of Jaipur alone. There is an increase in the cases are seen in the past one year.

It is to be noted that the incidents of women oppression have increased so much in Jaipur that it has become number one place where these cases takes place the most. The western area of Jaipur has witnessed the increase of around 32.98 percent in women oppression. In 2011-2012 the cases registered are 250 cases and in 2010-2011 the cases were 188. Apart from this in north Jaipur the cases are 304, in south it is 264, east 363 cases have been registered. Jaipur villages the cases are 376.
