Jaipur Women Get Ready To Spread Their Wings On Wheels

Have you recently visited Nahargarh or been on the wide streets of Jaipur in the morning ? If the answer is yes, you must have seen umpteen number of cyclists riding like a gush of wind around the city and giving you cycling goals 😉 But there is one more important thing to notice, most of these people are men. To change this scenario in the pink city, for the first time ever, we are going to see an all-women cycling eventWings on Wheels !

An initiative by Women’s Cycling Promoters Club in association with Aadhya (A Strength for Women), ‘Wings on Wheels’ which is scheduled for 16th Jan 2017, aims solely at increasing awareness of the importance of health, environment and to top it all – women empowerment.  From young to old, all you women are invited to bring their cycles and embark on a 6-km ride from Albert Hall to Gandhi Circle and back. And guess what ? Even if you don’t know how to ride a cycle or don’t want to ride it, you are most welcome as we have other things to let your wings fly 😉

To inform and spread a word about the event, WCPC has used their social media very well by posting happy and empowering pictures of women cycling around the city. The flag-off is at 7 am on January 16, and everyone is invited to come and cheer the cyclists on! We’d like to remind you, though, that the only people riding the track will be women. To add to the excitement, the event will begin with a music morning and will see refreshments, selfie stands and cycling awards for the best slogans, cycle decoration, best creative costume etc.

WOW (Wings on Wheels) is an effort to raise the voices of women all over Jaipur and bring cycling into the popular culture as a viable means of transportation. The benefits of cycling extend beyond just the physical to even improve mental health, and its positive effects are especially profound among women. The event will see Rajkumari Diya Kumari, Brand Ambassador of Beti Bachao, and B L Soni, ADGP Rajasthan, gracing the event.

So make sure you reach JLN Marg outside Albert Hall on 16th January, 7 a.m. and experience a new cycling movement that will energize and revolutionize the pink city in times to come 🙂
