Pouring sessions on Day 2 at Talk Journalism in Jaipur

It was the day to mingle with senior journalists and to interact with media industry players at Hotel Fairmont in the beautiful rain swept Jaipur. The pleasant weather and the rain creates a more intense experience. In its 4th edition Talk Journalism nurtures a fabulous journalist community but it also brings in a spontaneous momentum and energy in the Pink City. On its second day, the festival saw a tremendous blend of participations from journalists and media students.

The morning started with well known celebrity journalists Barkha Dutt’s session which continuos with more sessions by media giants like Shekhar Gupta, Rajdeep Sardesai, Sagarika Ghosh and also actor Piyush Mishra.

When TV came people said news paper will be finished, when Digital Media came people said TV will be finished- Never write obituaries in a country as large as India- reply that came from Rajeev Sardesai on a question put by the audience.

People think I was the first Indian woman reporter to cover war but my mother did that some 3 decades ago- said Barkha Dutt.

On having Talk Journalism happening at Jaipur, Barkha said- I am glad that we have broken the hegemony of Delhi which lot of us are guilty of.

Piyush Mishra session left the the audience entertained and awestruck with his sometimes witty comments and other times with his deep thoughts especially when he presented excerpts from his treasured trifles-O Husna.

And guess who all walked up to the Digital Corner and showcased their love for Jaipur Beat.  Christina Lamb co-author of I am Malala and Nick Davies from The Guardian, USA.

Last but not the least the students of journalism participated through out the day in workshops designed for the festival and we too had some tete-e tete with them. And here’s the prove –

Apart from the celebrities there will be lot of learning sessions about different genre of media. How the Digital media is shaping the future of media industry, students must listen to Mr. Gaurav Hajela, (Founder Jaipur Beat ), Pioneer of Social Media in Rajasthan, during his session on Jaipur Goes Digital  at 3.45 pm. His talk on how the role of Digital Media industry is shaping up in this city is sure to help students in finding their place in this industry.
