Rurban Khurjan -A Photography Exhibition by Jaipur based Artist to begin in New Delhi!

“She sends me to fetch water very early in the morning Oh! Grandfather it is very difficult for me My pot never fills up fully the water is so deep, that my rope hardly reaches it the sun rises and also sets by the time, I return unable to collect even one pot-full of water” – A folk song of Rajasthan tells the story of scarcity of water in Rajasthan and even decades after Independence the issues of potable water is the major faced by thousands of villagers.

Kurjan.jpg

Jaipur based independent filmmaker and photographer Abhishek Kumawat chose photography as a platform to show how the scarcity of water has eventually led the migration of villagers in Rajasthan.
Rurban-Kurjan,-28-April---4-May.jpg

This exhibition portrays the life and spaces of people who migrated from villages to city because of water scarcity, lack of jobs and identity crisis. Rurban as a word is fusion of rural + urban. It’s important to explore the interactions and conflicts of this amalgamated space. The migratory bird “Demoiselle Crane” in winters, migrates from Central Asia and Siberia to Rajasthan and popularly known as Kurjan in local culture and folk songs – a symbol of migration.

In this exhibition, my interest is to understand the psychological and geographical aspects of this shift, especially shift in their consciousness when they migrate to city/cities for survival and not because of any aspirations.

Indian Political League V/s Indian Premier League : The 15 similarities between them.

The days of the IPL are on! By IPL, we at Jaipur Beat not only mean the Indian Premier League that’s one of the most sought after cricket event every year, but also, the Indian Political League. The Lok Sabha elections take place every 5 years and serves the same purpose that of a league as a lot of parties participate and face-off each other. Eventually, there’s only 1 party that emerges as the winner, the same happens in a league.

Both these events have some similarities and we’re sure you can’t but agree with all of these 😉

1. They last for almost 2 months.

2. Spread throughout the country in different states

3. Local teams (parties) are represented by local talents (leaders)

4. Both provide some serious non-stop entertainment

5. Enraged discussions take place Face to face or on Whatsapp.

6. Teams (parties) buy players from other teams in cash, if needed.

7. Speculation of being fixed is always there with them.

8. Bollywood plays a major and integral part in both

9. People look forward to the final result

10. Social and Electronic media plays major role in both

11. Alcohol brands make merry in both

12. Corporates have a serious role to play in terms in finances

13. One would get routinely notified about them, whether voluntarily or involuntarily!

14. Both take over the newspapers, one takes the first half and the other, the latter half.

15. If you’re a person living in the country and don’t follow either of the two, there’s a great chance of you being called an anti-nationalist.

Considering the harsh humid weather, Jaipur jewellers have come up with new jewellery trends for the brides to be in this season. So, get ready as Jaipur Beat reveals the Spring Summer Wedding Jewellery Trend for this year.

The recently concluded Jewellers Association Show left us floored with the stunning colours and hues available in the jewellery and gemstones section. Especially, for the hot Jaipur summer, light tones are making a lot of sense.

No doubt, the charm of timeless and traditional Kundan Meena will never fade away but the subtle and pastels are going to rule the world of gemstones in the upcoming Spring Summer wedding season of 2019. They will make for a delightful adornment that will give any Spring Summer Bride a refreshing look when paired with her bright coloured ensemble.

To all the brides who have been wondering how to look gorgeous on their wedding day- the Spring Summer trends are simple to follow-

1. Jaipur summers are hot, so remember if it’s a day ceremony, pair your ensemble with delicate petals & flowers motifs embellished with light-coloured gemstones. This will give a bright and breezy look. Isn’t this a classy way of showing off a bride’s beauty and youth.

Jaipur

Jaipur- Where every corner is an Artist’s paradise!

“Where the spirit does not work with hands, there is no art.”

The above line was quoted by the great artist Leonardo da Vinci and today in honour of his birthday we are celebrating the World Art Day. Jaipur is one of those cities in the world that are best known for soaking in the culture and finding inspiration in the arts. Through its various art forms, the city speaks to how well-preserved and significant it is from a historical and cultural perspective. Jaipur strikes a perfect balance in between the old and new, masterpiece and modern from its architectural wondrous monuments to the street galleries which are central for the various traditional art forms.

Jaipur has been a major center for motifs, be it in blue pottery, jewellery, and walls of Amer Fort or the City Palace. That is why Jaipur is a commercial hub of art & crafts and is dear to the artists.

Jaipur’s main attractions are its varied artforms which one can find in every corner. No matter where you go while in the city, there’s always something artistic to see and experience. One should save a day to explore the city that houses an impressive collection of artwork and antiquities on the streets to the museums.

Jaipur is best explored by foot without any specific agenda in mind and to really get a feel for the city’s artistic scene, let’s take a walk with Jaipur Beat:

  1. Glasswork-

One of the most striking parts of Jaipur is its Mirror Palace or Sheesh Mahal. Meant for the queen’s stay, this place is carved with glass paintings and beautiful flowers. Also, with the thousands of attached mosaic mirrors, the interior of Sheesh Mahal appears to be glittering like shiny stars. Glasswork of Amer’s Sheesh Mahal has stunned many tourists.

  1. Blue Pottery-

Blue pottery is yet another masterpiece of art that is made with Multani Mitti. The blue pottery is decorated with birds, animals and leaf motifs, making Jaipur the biggest center of its manufacturing.

It is believed that Sawai Man Singh II summoned the sculptors to Jaipur for their skill of marble sculptors and statues. This ingenious art makes a perfect home décor items.

  1. Rugs & Carpets-

Another form of art is handmade rugs and carpets which were introduced in the state back in the 17thcentury. Artisans use the finest quality of woolen fibers including the rich colour, patterns & designs that attracts tourists the most.

  1. Tie & Dye-

When it comes to fashion the first thing that comes to our mind is Jaipuri Bandhej. A fabric goes through a very tedious process by tying tightly in different ways and then dyed by hand. One can find this unique art only in Jaipur!

  1. Block Printing-

Block printing is also a famous handmade art form that uses wooden patterns of specific designs. The process of hand block printing includes artisans to soak carved wooden blocks in different colors and then paste them on the fabric thus creating some magical wonder on the piece of cloth. Bagru or Sanganeri prints brings you an exquisite collection of floral prints and designs made in vegetable colour, which is the specialty of Rajasthan block printing.

Jewellery making is a long tradition that includes art forms Meenakari, Jadau & Kundan Meena. It is a connoisseur’s hub of precious gems & stones.

The scintillating Jewellers Association Show is over but the city is not over with the excitement of this glitterati in Jaipur and beyond! And, why not? the social media platforms of JAS’19 are still buzzing with action- videos, interviews bytes and a lot more! Today, Jaipur Beat will take you back to experience the glitz and glamour of the April Show!

Over the years, The Jewellers Association Show of Jaipur, has acquired a prominent place in global jewellery and gemstone scenes. Since Jaipur is known for its vintage-inspired yet exquisite style of jewellery across the world, the Jewellers Association Show is taking the city’s gems and jewellery to newer heights.

56418252_2334412563260251_8738660895619547136_n

This year around the different offerings, categorized jewellery display- the emerald pavilion dedicated to the gemstone, three dedicated lounges (jadau, diamond and emerald lounge) and a series of exciting events (awards night, cultural show, best booth awards) surrounding the mysterious gems, had a lot more than business, facts, and gemstones. JAS’19 not just offered an opportunity to have in-depth discussions with India´s best manufacturers and meet many new suppliers, but the 4 days of excitement, entertainment, and fun to the organizers, exhibitors, and visitors.

The additions by the organizing committee to the show, that elevated the standard of JAS’19 created a unique business environment at JECC, Sitapura. JAS’19 was covered live on Social Media with an edge of class and indulgence. The participation of popular bloggers brought in glamour to the show where a maximum number of booths was visited and featured by them. With an advantage of exhibiting their signature jewel pieces through special feature by bloggers, the exhibitors enjoyed special coverage during JAS’19.

56842679_2335945486440292_2112492927396610048_n

The “Wandering Camera” of JAS’19 was a wonderful highlight of the show. It completely changed the way a Jewellery Show is covered. Talking to the Jewellers Association Committee members, asking quirky question from the visitors and celebrities of the show, Wandering Camera brought a cheerful wave of intrigue to the show.

The interesting talk shows with the connoisseurs, models, political figures, gemstone buyers and sellers and two seminars on Role of Digital and Social Media in Jewellery Business and Role of Cyber Security added an element of knowledge to the purpose of the show.

When Jaipur Beat is covering something and there’s no talk of food, that’s not possible. There’s the food of JAS’19, which caught our fancy- with the different menu, featuring cuisines from overseas like Mongolian vegetables, Thai curry to local flavors like dal baati, gatte, chakki, ker saangri ki subzi, maalpua, ghewar and butter milk for all 4 days, the lunch served at JAS’19 was another reason to love the show. We overheard a participant saying, “Amongst all international jewellery shows; be it Hongkong or UAE or India, JAS is the only show that serves such elaborate menu with such delicious cuisines, that too complimentary”. That’s what we call, a true Jaipuri hospitality!

To top it all, Jaipur Beat’s parent company Pathfynder is the name behind all the coverages of the show on its Social Media platforms.  With everything interesting as well as enticing, no wonder, JAS’19 will be remembered as one of the most compelling gemstone and jewellery fairs that Jaipur has hosted.

With the benchmark of this year’s glory, the truly successful fair, Jewellers Association Show will continue to attract key players and buyers from across the world. Here´s a sneak peek into JAS’19.
