Valentine Alert: Ideas to Celebrate Valentine’s Day on Thursday

Valentine’s Day is here and lovers around the world are gearing up for the annual celebration of love. This is the day to tell the one, they are on your mind. But there’s a minor glitch.

This valentine may not be the ideal day to plan an over the board romantic date since it falls on Thursday! But don’t let that stop you from showing your partner a good time. Wondering what special can you do on a week day? We have got you some ideas that can make your Valentine’s Day in pink city make the cut. Checkithow !

For married couples and those living in, nothing can beat the intimacy of breakfast in bed. Prepare a healthy meal of things your partner loves. Decorate it nicely on a tray with a good morning note and some coffee or juice. A healthy kick start is best before the cheat meals that await you later in the day.

For those young love birds who live apart, a nice morning walk will suffice. Go to her place, wake her up with a sweet call, tell her to come down and walk along the streets. The fresh morning breeze, chirping of birds and motor sounds of the rising city will make the perfect companions for you two.

If you can arrange a car, then it’s even better. Take them on a drive to Jal Mahal or along the Central Park, the two prime locations of Jaipur that look absolutely stunning in the morning. Go another mile and take them on a long drive to Nahargarh Fort, watch the sunrise bring the whole city to life which is mesmerizing to watch. Bring a hot insulated mug of coffee and Maggi for a cozy breakfast. Share your food and spend some quality time in quiet together. Go home and come back to drop them off at work. Before they leave, gift them a nice outfit for dinner later in the evening. Don’t let them open the gift until later. Let the anticipation build for good!

At lunch, arrange for a dessert to be delivered at their desk. Order anything sweet they like. It can be a sweet, a cupcake, cookies or even ice cream. The thoughtful surprise will surely woo them. Add in some fresh flowers as well. Everyone loves a fragrant reminder of love on the most romantic day of the year. She will fall for your gestures over and over when her colleagues swoon over your little surprises!

For later in the evening, plan a happening night at a bar or lounge. Keep it a secret. Tell them to wear the gift you gave them earlier in the morning. Bars and pubs offer some exciting offers on Valentine’s Day for party lovers that you can take advantage of. Make time to browse in advance and book yourself before it’s too late.

Drink your fill and dance your hearts out with your lover in your arms. Let the party animal in you unleash itself. Have fun, sneak in some spontaneous romantic kisses, make the night count. Most of all, keep it all about both of you.

If you are not the party wild kind, then a quiet dinner at a lavish eatery can make a good choice. The Stag Café opposite Amber Fort is a chic place to eat under the starry sky. Take in the view of the brightly lit Amber Fort along with the intoxicating smells of food and cool night breeze.

Eating out may seem like a routine for long dating or married couples. So how do you spice it up? Recreate your first date! Take them to the same place, order the same menu and revisit your memories. Take pictures of the night. Make a deal of recreating your outings every once in a while. A cozy dinner at rooftop of your apartment, or the balcony can be a good option as well. Indulge in conversations.

Talk about the time that has passed and the future that awaits. Couples living apart can make a romantic night out of Valentine’s Day by packing take out dinner and going to some open public space to eat. This is good time to talk about your feelings. Say it out! Tell them how you feel. You’ll surprised how well it turns out without the mandatory lavish hangout at a restaurant or bar. After all it’s not the place but the person you are with who makes things special and out of the ordinary, isn’t it?

5 ‘Little Things’ will make you fall In Love with JAIPUR’s Winter!

The most pleasant time of the year is right here when not just the Jaipurites but the tourists from all over the world throng to Pink city.

Let us take you to those little things that make winter one of the favourite seasons for the locals as well as for those who travel to Jaipur.

mornings

The feeling of winter mornings that start with a warm sunlight to afternoon sunbathing with family whilst devouring our favorite moongfali and santara, sipping tea from the corner wala thela, marching out in the most fashionable leather jacket during pleasant evenings and finally getting cozy in the warm blanket as the night falls are few most cherished things that we all enjoy.

Wait. That’s not it. The thought of festivals and vacations at this time of the year makes this period even more special.

Here are the Five little things that make this season more joyful.

  1. Change is all around us

The mundane summers and the long sunny sweltering afternoons no longer deprive us of going outside for a long spell. The weather is just perfect; offering a perfect mix of sun and clouds. The soft morning mist mingling with the early morning light and the little dew drops falling on the leaves give us the most dramatic scape to be witnessed as soon as we leave our beds. Feel it while taking a morning walk at Rambagh Golf club, Central Park, Smriti van or to any other park.

2. The Festival Season

The Pink city has always been synonymous with festivals and colours. The festivals make it worth to experience this season in all its glory. The aura of festivity starts from Diwali celebration in Jaipur when the city is dressed in its beautiful best.

Then comes the fascinating World famous Pushkar Fair carrying along the true essence of Rajasthani culture and vibrant colours of dessert exuding absolute delight.

As you are back from delightful desert land, the glittering Jaipur Jewellery Show-JJS welcomes you, followed by an unparalleled melting pot of amazing thoughts, great thinkers and minds, and the JLF music stage at the Jaipur Literature Festival giving us some serious fashion ticks. How could you miss our passion for kite flying making the sky a colourful canvas?

We bet no other city has this much to offer in just one season.

3. Time to Gorge on Season’s Treats

Winter and winter delicacies walk hand in hand. When you’re in Jaipur, nothing compares to the pleasures of indulging in winter delicacies that offer a variety of veg and non-veg choices. From warming yourself on a wintry day with some Garma Garam Doodh Jalebi at Saras Parlour or the piping hot samosas at Shankar, winter months are much awaited to savour Gajak, Ladoos, Bajre ki khichdi, kadhai Ka doodh, Malpue, Dal ke Pakore, Moong Dal Ka halwa and variety of irresistible egg joints. Streets full of amazing winter delicacies make us forget about all our weight loss resolutions.

4. It’s time for Band Baja Baraat

wedding in jaipur.jpg

The beautiful backdrop of forts and palaces become more pretty when decked up under the open sky in winters. Thus, the wedding planners and pandits are set for the winter wedding packages. Not just those coming for destination weddings, there is always some or the other member of the family who is getting married in winter months allowing us to do a lot of winter shopping and dressing later 😉

5. Atithi Devo Bhava

Last but not least, we love it to have guests at home this season. As this is the best time to take them on a city tour, from climbing up to Amber or Nahargarh to walking on the streets- everything seems so much of fun when compared to doing the same activities in the sweltry and humid harsh summers. So, if you want to visit your family and friends who are in Jaipur, kindly make a note that this is the season when they will happily welcome you.

Aren’t we so fortunate to be able to live in a place where we have this liberty to enjoy all the seasons and can actually see it happen how weather changes slowly and beautifully each day?

Central Park: My Story

Sprawling lawns dotted with early risers twisting their bodies before the sun breaks at the horizon, mark the start of my day. Filled with frenzied excitement, I see people running on the tracks laid upon me; I see them eagerly waiting at the gym; I see them laughing and I even see them just sitting back, soaking in the divine charm of mother nature in search of peace.

DSC_3281-2

DSC_3629

I hear the melody of birds chirping early in the morning, I see them take a flight in the enormous sky in search of food. I am the Central Park of Jaipur, landlocked in the heart of Pink City. I find immense pride in sharing such close vicinity with the founder of Jaipur, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

DSC_3308

With the sunrays falling on the National flag which stands tall on my grounds, each and every patriot feels a surge of gratification running through them. The art in form of stone sculptures that I contain in my being represents something mighty, yet beautiful.

DSC_3264

As the day proceeds,  I am completely transformed, people start leaving and at some point I am left alone…but I am never completely abandoned.

DSC_3238

Sometimes I hear the laughter of young boys and girls when the world is bathed in the warmth of sun it is me, who provides some comfort to those who seek it. To those poor rickshaw pullers who keep dragging their rickshaws in the screeching heat,  it is I who shades them from the sun, those who want a place to give themselves a break from the buzz of urban jungle, it is I who takes them in my lap and let them sleep peacefully and those who have their loved ones in the hospital, it is I, who let them have a little peaceful time away from their worries, in arms of nature.

DSC_3246

As the evening approaches and the sun gradually goes down, I transform once again. Once again I change my character, to become a family ground. A place for people to visit for some quality time with their loved ones, their young toddlers. With urban projects setting up, people look at me and get assured that their children still have a place to go out and live their childhood like the way they did, running around, playing real games, getting dust on their clothes. Indulged in the sweet melancholic music of their laughter I feel grateful for my existence.

DSC_3253

With the sun finally sinking, the sky turns a mixture of brilliant red and orange, beautiful and serene giving the air a tranquil feel. The extravagantly colourful sky, reminding everyone of the beautiful endings is sometimes the reason behind people visiting me.

Statue Circle - sunset

As the night falls I am quite once again, with the only audible sounds of traffic and buzzing streets and they too eventually fade away in the quite of night and I find peace watching the moonlight sky.
