Vogue to the Traditional City of Jaipur: Pearl Academy Architecture Adding Modernity

Jaipur is one of India’s most sought-after tourist destinations for a wide range of reasons and the most prominent reason is its wondrous architecture, be it Hawa Mahal, Unesco site Amer, Jantar Mantar, Chand Bawli, and many more. From travellers to locals, we all have seen these beauties and that really makes us proud of our heritage. But many are unaware that even modern architecture are adding to the architectural beauty, one of them is Pearl Academy of Fashion and Design. The city of Jaipur has a desert climate with average temperatures ranging from 30 to 50 ̊C through most of the year, the building of Pearl is designed in response to the excessive heat. This concept is inspired by Indo-Islamic architectural elements. The students who are interested in fashion and design can visit the campus that has garnered global recognition to Jaipur.

  1. The Pearl Academy of Fashion, Jaipur has a tremendous architecture consisting of step wells. These water bodies are filled using recycled water from the sewage treatment plant. A Design Institute On The Guru-Shishya Ideology Launches in the Pink City

And now our city has got a new place for learning the facets of fashion and modernity in a traditional ‘Gurukul’ way.

To inculcate the core values of tradition supplemented with a niche for fashion, the renowned designer, Raghavendra Rathore along with Tarang Arora of Amrapali Jewels, has announced the inaugural of the fashion & design institute, The Gurukul School of Design (GSD) in Jaipur.

Inspired by the traditional Indian values of guru-shishya concepts, the Gurukul School of Design is set to revolutionise the teaching methods of fashion and design education in India. The school aims at introducing innovative educational tools into a contemporary curriculum with a holistic approach and is envisioned to make a difference on the design education prospects in Rajasthan.

The programme will allow students to emulate the lives of designers and learn from prominent fashion entrepreneurs and professionals from India and abroad.

The idea behind the Gurukul School of Design is teaching students the value of Indian culture through its interpretation of the Gurukul way of life and to impart specialized knowledge to students to become entrepreneurs, as soon as they graduate. Students would learn to value the immense knowledge of global cultures, heritage and the rich resources & learn as well as practise design in a completely new way.
