7 Things We Find During Diwali Cleanliness Drive At Home!

They say Diwali is all about lights, festivity, and celebration. But is it just about that?

Diwali is also about cleaning the whole house like never before; it is also about nostalgia on finding out old stuff, and about remembering the old Diwali days. Jaipur Beat takes you on a trip to find the lost treasures that we only find out and remember about in “Diwali ki Safai”. Here follows a list of things that we find during our Safai Mania!

  • The Memories!

There are always some pictures from childhood that our parents took of us having made the mess. There are also the pictures from family trips to hill stations or simply to Amber Fort in Daddu’s lap or papa’s shoulders. Good times!

  • The Money

We all have that secret place for keeping extra cash that we never told anyone about. Moreover, we ourselves forgot about having kept it there! And Tada! It pops out of nowhere during Diwali Safai.

  • Toys

Those childhood treasures, miniature cars, teddy bears, dolls, planes and whatnot. Those toys are just there to stay and be admired year after year, and you smile thinking about the tantrums you used to throw at losing them for the shortest span of time.

  • Clothes

The long forgotten dress that used to be your favourite but you grew out and eventually forgot about it. It’s about time you donate them at the Mother Teresa Home or Neki ki Deewar in Jaipur

neki ki deewar

  • Home Décor Items

Year after year we buy new stuff to decorate our house on Diwali, and the old stuff just gets dumped in the storeroom, only to be noticed on next Diwali safai!

  • Cards

Birthday cards, wedding cards, written letters and messages that you kept under the mattress and forgot about.

  • Trivial things

That lost jewellery piece that you kept safely in your drawer only to take it out now, or the coins and pennies in nooks and corners.

Diwali is the biggest festival of the year and the most exciting one too, but the “Diwali Safai” also has its own advantages, that bring along a lot of things that we loved and lost, or forgot about during the year!

Did you start your Diwali Safai yet? What did you find? Let us know in comments!

Wake up! It’s Gym’o clock

It’s because of the health conscious Jaipurites, the fitness culture has popped up in our city. If you are a regular gym person, you must be finding it a fun and exciting place to stay fit and then you already know the unsaid rules or say Gym Etiquettes. But for all those who are new to the gym, it’s better to know the basic do’s and don’ts. There are many important things including clothing, body odour, cell phones, space or equipment sharing and moreover the basic hygiene that one should be careful about.

DSC_0011.JPG

Do’s at the gym

  1. Do ask your trainer before you start

Before taking the first step on the machine, ask your trainer what is best suited for you according to your health. Don’t just go with the flow and end up injuring yourself.

  1. Warm up

Warming up before starting your workout is a MUST ! Cold muscles aren’t that flexible so opt for gentle movements like walking or stretching that will help your muscle relax before going out on a meticulous workout.

  1. Keep your water bottle with you

Carry a water bottle with you ALWAYS! Drink plenty amount of water even before you get thirsty in between your workout because getting thirsty is believed to be a sign of dehydration.

  1. Do wear deodorant

After you are finished with your exhaustive routine at the gym, you may not realize but the odour of your body can prove to be a problem for others working out near you.

  1. Do wipe your machines before you start working out

You know it and there is no shying away from the fact that we tend to sweat during our gym activity. So why not carry a napkin and wipe off the machines/ equipment before using them? This way our hygiene will be safe in our hands.

DSC_0017.JPG

  1. Do keep the weights at their proper place

Once you are done using the weights, don’t just leave them where you finished exercising. Keep them at their proper place otherwise, someone can end up getting injured. The gym trainers and owners are going to thank you later.

DSC_0002.JPG

Don’ts at the gym

  1. Don’t focus on everyone’s workout

A basic rule to follow at the gym; focus on your workout instead of what others are doing. If you are really keen to learn what the other person is doing, then either ask him/her once he/she is finished his/her exercise or ask your trainer.

  1. Don’t use your phone at all

Talking while working out, especially when on a treadmill is not a really good idea. This disturbs your concentration to use the equipment and you can end up injuring yourself. Moreover, it disturbs others a lot.

  1. Don’t restrict yourself to training

Achieving your goals in the gym is a good deal, but don’t limit yourself to specific machines and equipment. The more you keep your mind open about your routine, the better you realize what you’re good at 😉

DSC_0049.JPG

  1. Don’t use gym equipment without proper guidance

First day at the gym and can’t figure out which equipment is suited for you? Don’t worry, take the help of your instructor because a proper guidance on what and how of that equipment is a MUST!

  1. Don’t dominate all the machines at once

Shifting from one machine to another in a short span of time to break the monotony can be unethical because you’re not the only one at the gym. Other people are waiting for their turn, so be mindful and give each routine the time it deserves at one stretch.

Follow these simple rules at the gym and make your way to the fitter YOU !

If you’re thinking to join gym pretty soon remember to choose one which is best for you. The best infrastructure, experienced trainers, central location and for the ladies if you get pick up drop service go for that.

  1. Open on Sunday

Well, this is something we always wanted to 🙂

Unlike few other gyms in Jaipur, ‘Good to Great’ believes that closing the place on Sundays in the name of maintenance is unjustified to the customers. Since most of the people have their Sundays off from work, what is better than doing some extra squats and lunges?

DSC_0014DSC_0069

5.       Hygiene

It is extremely significant that the place where we all go to sweat out needs to by high on hygiene. If it is not paid attention to, there can be infection prone environment for customers. It was good to see that the cleanliness staff continuously cleans the toilets and shower areas at this centre.

DSC_0011

  1. Pick and Drop service

Now this is something unique on offer! The most important thing is to deal with the traffic woos everyday especially for the women. This is the only gym cum fitness center in the city that provides a car service to pick and drop. Let’s not forget these ladies who are always working to make your day better should be given time to take care of themselves.

Go Eco-Friendly With These New Additions In Jaipur Market

We only have one planet and we all should do our part to ensure that our environment has to be protected and respected.

With fast-paced life, we have unknowingly abused our nature and its environment. Plastic pollution has become one of the serious issues in today’s time and it’s high time that we should start realizing the value of our ancient tradition and lifestyles our ancestors followed with the core focus on nature conservation. The earlier days when there was no clue of plastic, only clay and ceramic pottery utensils were being used.

DSC_3830

With few Indian states already banning plastic and imposing a strict penalty and fine to the users of plastic, we the Jaipurites need to gear up before the steps from the government come in.

On this World Nature Conservation Day, we would be glad to share some amazing products, which can be used in the daily activities and gives us an option to remove plastic from our everyday life. Here we go-

Thanda Thanda with uber Cool Matkas

Matkas or earthen pots were used in every Indian household since time immemorial, especially during summers. Matkas provided us with cool water without the use of electricity. Isn’t it cool! And if you have got bored with these regular plain mutkas, bring home a newly designed one.

DSC_3821

Say No to Plastic Bottles

Nowadays, plastic water bottles have become an integral part of our life. Knowing the fact, that keeping water in plastic bottles leads to diseases like cancer we cannot get rid of. But here is the substitute for plastic water bottles. Go to the nearby potter and get a new and latest supplement for it – clay bottles. Yes, you hear it right! Go get them and trust us they are cheaper and healthier than your steel bottles also – just Rs.140 -160.

DSC_3824

Choose to cook a healthy way

If you have been a fitness and health freak and not at all believe in serving in plastic containers or even cook in the plastic or steel utensils, clay utensils are the way to go! They are not only heat resistant but also safe for modern day cooking in microwaves.

DSC_3825

Flaunt it

A high tea or a dinner party, going eco-friendly is the new trend all around. Why not be the first to begin? How nice would it look that you serve your guests in the kulhad or these clay glass? Even though water will first taste slightly different but will definitely quench your thirsty throat.

DSC_3828

Water shortage, plastic pollution are some of the leading problem threatening not only our health but also every aspect of our environment. What about serving your guests in these mitti ki thaal? It is classy, biodegradable as well as eco-friendly.

As we get down to conserve our mother nature, let’s choose this safe, long-lasting and unique way for a healthy living.

What we love is family outing any day any time. Right? Jaipurites love to spend quality time together with their families and if given a chance we simply love family dinners a lot. The bond we share with our closed ones and the willingness to celebrate each occasion with family is something we are never tired of. We are sure like us you also look forward to these small get together with your family. Whenever there is an option to dine out with family we usually are confused where to head to in Pink city to cherish these moments. So, today on International Day of Families, if you are looking for a perfect family-friendly restaurant, here we go-

1.       The Forresta Kitchen & Bar

Whenever we go out for family dinner, The Forresta, is the first choice. The place is serene and the forest ambience with outdoor seating options is always preferred by the senior members of the family. The running mist liners reduces the intensity of the heat and allows you to enjoy outdoors even in summers.  The Forresta is loved by each and every member of the family right from children to adults for its wide array of cuisine that it offers. Their alfresco bar is the favourite choice for social drinkers.

4.       Fort Jaipur

Boasting of being the largest restaurant of Rajasthan, Fort takes us back to the royal days as the restaurant is inspired by the historic Rajasthani architecture.
