Let’s Talk About Talk Journalism In Jaipur

What brings you closer to truth, also takes you away from illusion. The closest you will ever go to seeing the heart of the world is through journalism. It is the most widely spread profession that discusses the world but is seldom discussed. The share of stories might change over time, the storytellers may come and leave but the curiosity and the need for them remains the same. With an increasing level of the sacred games that take place behind the curtains, under the tables and in the dark, Journalism is catching up with its own value as the country realizes the need to discuss Journalism itself. To make both ends meet, an initiative by Vox Media Foundation called Talk Journalism has taken its form in Jaipur City. It brings to you the bold and the unafraid ones, the ones who are known to be the greatest journalists of the era.

Talk Journalism is a non-profit initiative base on the idea that there is an urgent need to discuss journalism in today’s era because it is the profession that discusses all other professions but is itself seldom talked about. It aims to skin down journalism itself and look at its aspects that have never been brought up.

It all started in 2012, with a simple tweet call to all the journalists to come forward and discuss the Evolution of journalism over time. After four successful editions of Talk Journalism since 2012 (2012, 2015-17), the fifth edition is going to be held in Jaipur from 10th to 12th August 2018 and Jaipur Beat is the official digital media partner.

The greatest attraction at any social event is its guests. The speakers for Talk Journalism include some of the most eminent personalities from the world of Indian as well as International Media and Press. Speakers like Barkha Dutt, Rajdeep Sardesai, Ayaz Menon and Jency Jacob are going to be a part of this event along with the others.

Apart from the talk shows and interactive sessions with the audience, various interesting workshops and mini events are also going to be held at Talk Journalism 2018 including a workshop by Google India, Unconference and Live Newsroom for aspiring journalists, and Lensbusters celebrating the spirit of photography. The event would be concluded with musical performances each day.

Kyunki Har Ek Friend Zaroori Hota Hai

Friends are the most special people in our lives and celebrating this bond on Friendship Day is equally special to us. They help us do our homework. When our parents scold us, they take the blame on themselves. When we get wasted, they make sure we reach home safely. They take care of us when we fall sick. They give us the most genuine life advice. They stick with us in our bad times. When we skip office to meet our boyfriend or girlfriend, they lie to boss. They truly are our angels, aren’t they?

Let’s take a look at the type of friends we all have in our lives:

  1. Padhai wale dost

They are the ones who come home right after school to help us study. We don’t leave them alone till exams are over. Gladly, they help us pass our examinations. We are forever grateful to their Yaar tu mere notes lele’.

padhai wale dost

  1. Khane wale dost

They are reason why we gain weight. We love going to Statue Circle to have cold coffee or to the nearest Sunrise Bakers to debauch patties with them. Their Ek naya cafe khula hai is constant. We even have your own addas in Jaipur and never go there with anyone else but them.

statue circle

  1. Movie wale dost

They are complete movie freaks and have made us into one too. Whether it is going to Crystal Palm, Vaibhav, Elements Mall, Golcha, Raj Mandir or Entertainment Paradise, we can go anywhere with them to watch our favourite movies.

raj-mandir

  1. Ghar aana jaane wale dost

These are the most special friends. They are more or less our family member only. They know everyone in our family and would visit even when we ourselves aren’t home. Our parents love them more than us simply because they say Namaste aunty, Namaste uncle’. 😉

ghar ane jane wale dost

  1. Ghumne wale dost

What we do most of the time with them is travel around the city. Mostly we sneak out at night and ride to Nahargarh or Amer because sunrises and friends are the best combination right? Random ‘gediyaan’ and ‘raaste’ with them are our absolute life motto.

nahargarh

  1. PUBG wale dost

Now they are our soul mate. These legends play with us one of the most addictive and amazing game. We absolutely love discussing the game and being competitive with them.

pubg

  1. Kiki wale dost

They are the real MVPs. We are alive because they did not speed the car while we were busy calling kiki out. Moreover, they are the reason behind our 100 instagram likes, so they deserve applause!

So tag your friends and let them know they’re special!

Happy Friendship Day! 😀

Indulge In The Weekend Buffet At JW Marriott, Jaipur

Who doesn’t dream of a luxurious, peaceful, relaxing weekend with some serious eating goals? After trying Sunday brunches in cafe and restaurants, it’s time that we explore something more indulging.  A new entry to the city’s offbeat weekend destination, we got a chance to spend a day in the calm ambience away from the hustle bustle of the city life at JW Marriott, Jaipur.

DSC_0178

Right from the grand palatial entrance to the way of your resting place or even the restaurant, everything draws inspiration from the city it now hails to. Like the grand getaway to the vast arches, it also has a vast menu on its weekend buffet.

DSC_0170

We were lucky enough to be a part of their weekend buffet launch and got a chance to savour some of the finest artistic meals from their menu. Especially and focusing mainly on international cuisine – it had an array of dishes to satiate your weekend hunger and vibes. Appetizers are a must to begin with a 3-4 course meal. From shrimps to salmons for non-vegetarians to stuffed tomato and vegetable salads for vegetarians, the menu looked just too way colourful and so did it taste.

DSC_0103DSC_0112DSC_0115DSC_0117

To start from salads rich with some best quality of cheese especially imported from Italy to a large number of assorted bread it was indeed confirmed that you will not stay starved.

DSC_0120

Drawing a little inspiration from the western world food – it had all types of meat to settle the non-vegetarian cravings. But not to forget the little specially done vegetarian dishes with some extra cheese were definitely not to be missed.

DSC_0101DSC_0085DSC_0065

But being in the princely state of Rajasthan how can one miss out to its very own Dal Baati Churma and some Laal Maas. Well, they didn’t. A live station to satiate the dragon from China, they served some hot and spicy fried rice and noodles.

After eating a lot from this, we still had to make our way to the dessert collection. Presented with finesse, were some really mouthwatering and jaw-dropping desserts and we couldn’t simply keep ourselves from gorging into some. The Classic Millie Feuille done in several layers or the Eclairs, Mocha Pot for the coffee lovers and the Blood Orange Parfait were some outstanding ones.

DSC_0154DSC_0151DSC_0144

But don’t worry they also had something for all those sugar conscious people – the Raspberry and Coconut Pannacotta and some specially made sugar free ice creams.

DSC_0153

So if you haven’t yet planned what to do this weekend get going to this place and binge into the weekend buffet specially crafted for you all.

Happy eating!

Friday The 13th: A Spooky Adventure Near Jaipur

Horror is not for everyone and even less so if hauntings happen in real life.

Mystery has always tantalized mankind. The enchanting bafflement of unknown, visions uncanny and experiences unaccountable, has since forever, evoked terror and drawn us towards both alluring and horrifying secrets.

Places with such occurrences over the period of time gained a reputation of being haunted. Undoubtedly, some of these places give you a sense of fright and anxiety. Entering such places gives you chills running down your spines. But our kind’s impeccable curiosity and desire to uncover such mysteries make these places popular around the globe.

1

Bhangarh is one such place in Rajasthan. A beautiful small town amidst the lush green Aravali hills with such a picturesque and serene landscape that will make you forget every story of horror you have ever heard about Bhangarh. Situated 80 km away from Jaipur in Alwar district, Bhangarh is a place with beauty unmatched.

ghp

Bhangarh fort unsurprisingly has stayed in the list of world’s most haunted places for quite some time now. The town has a numerous legends associated to it. As a legend goes, a tantrik (sorcerer) fell for the Princess of Bhangarh and turned to black magic to spell a potion for her. The Princess found out, and threw that potion on a rock which in turn killed the tantrik. But the dying tantrik cursed the city to perish. After a while there was a battle and the Princess along with most of the inhabitants was killed, those who remained fled the city. All that remains is the ruins since then. People believe that the dead still walk among the ruins of Bhangarh.

3

The fort has gained such reputation that no one is allowed to stay in Bhangarh after dusk. Visitors and locals have been narrating their strange and experiences, from hearing distant cries to some peculiar and bizarre phenomenon, which makes the place very spooky and feared of. It is often said that the place has a weird aura and gives you some seriously weird vibes.

6

Though we’ve all heard stories of horror; there is another side to Bhangarh. With its untouched ruins and unadulterated natural scenery, it gives you such an intimate experience with nature that you will always want to come back to this place if spending time in the calm labyrinth of nature is what gives you peace of mind. Since no paranormal casualties have been reported so far, we conclude it is safe to visit Bhangarh this monsoon.
