There was a lot of buzz going on for the movie ‘Jazbaa’ so we head for the same on the very first day of its release and shockingly half of the cinema hall at Pink Square Mall was vacant, indicating the preconceived mindset of the audience about Aishwarya’s performance in her come back after 5 years.
Picking up the most significant issue of rape the movie ‘Jazbaa’ revolves around Aishwarya Rai, a doting single mother of a young girl and also a top city lawyer. It is all about a woman fighting a rape and murder case in order to rescue her kidnapped daughter. On the other side, it is Shabana Aazmi, dressed in handloom sarees, finds the court decision of Phaansi Ki Sazaa a too small for her daughter’s rapist and murderer so is fighting to take revenge.
There is no stone left unturned by the Writer/Director Sanjay Gupta to frame Aishwarya as Super Women and over the top, who is dealing with rapists, criminals on day-to-day basis. Fit n fine Anuradha (onscreen name of Aishwarya) who handles everything from her office to sports day at school.
But a tormented mother needs a shoulder to lean on and thus comes Irfaan Khan- as Aishwarya’s friend and a suspended police officer, who deserves a special mention for his dialogues.
“ Neend bhi Mashooqua ki tarah hoti hai use agar samay na do to naraaz hokar chali jati hai”
Jackie Shroff as typical Indian MP which we are used to see on and off screen who can do anything for his incompetent Son and everything to save his political career.
Jazbaa is a good watch with a clear message about most prevalent women’s issues be it the birth of a girl child for which Aishwarya left her husband’s home or rape or a young girl’s decision to live away from parents.
But we find Aishwarya was too perfect for the role. But, yes a mother is always perfect and can go to any heights when it’s about her kids.
When the camera is not on Aishwarya you get to see the panoramic view of Mumbai skyline and queens necklace Marine drive shots with so many filters on it is a treat for the eyes whereas the Song-
Jaane tere shehar ka kya iraada hai
Aasmaan kam, parindey zyada hain sung by Vipin Anneja has been a treat for your ears.
You wouldn’t mind watching it once 🙂
