The wonderful year 2019 is soon going to get over in a few days. But, before we all step into another eventful year, which will have its own bag of challenges and goodies, let’s have a quick look into the past and take on this ride to cherish so many changes that Jaipur went through in 2019. Hop on..

  1. UNESCO World Heritage SiteUNESCO
Jaipur is a smart city now with all the techno advances in traffic, residences and public places. But what keeps it among the top-notch cities to travel is its heritage character! 3. All-women Gandhi Nagar Railway Station

Gandhi Nagar Railway Station

This became the moment of honour for all of us. In a step towards women empowerment, the Indian Railways have handed over the Gandhi Nagar railway station to an allwomen crew. And, Jaipur’s Gandhi Nagar became the country’s first allwomen railway station. Couldn’t be more proud!

4. Cleanest Railway Station

Cleanest Railway Station

Jaipur Municipal Corporation’s response to Swach Bharat Abhiyaan is not limited to residential, commercial areas or streets but the Railway Stations too took it seriously. To treat single-use plastic, bottle crushing machines have been planted at Jaipur Junction and Gandhinagar Jaipur stations and the staff on duty is always on their toes to keep the railway stations clean. As a result of the management’s hard work and travellers’ co-operation, Jaipur Junction has topped the tally among 720 stations covered all over the country.

5. Friendliest Cities in the World

Friendliest Cities

“Padharo Mhare Des”- we Jaipurites not only say this metaphor but figuratively, live it! With welcoming gestures and warm hospitality, Jaipur wins the hearts of travellers from across the globe. In an international survey, which took place early in the year, the ‘pink cityhas been ranked 35th in the list of 50 cities from all over the world, for being welcoming, “student-friendly”, and “popular on the tourist trail”. Hence, giving you more reasons to travel to Jaipur doubt free 🙂

6. Jaipur rated as most Instagrammed UNESCO World Heritage Site

Most Instagrammed

Our city is known for its old-world charm – usually referred to as ‘pink city’ owing to its iconic colour of buildings. In the year 2019, a new study from The Latin America Travel Company has analyzed that Jaipur is the most popular UNESCO Sites according to Instagram. We were not surprised. With a gamut of mesmerizing monuments, spellbinding palaces and intriguing streets, Jaipur would always be on the insta feeds of many!

7. City Palace opens Gudliya Suite for tourists

9. The wave of Clubbing Culture

Until last year, Jaipur did not have a very sound and vibrant nightlife like Berlin or Barcelona but the year 2019 gave us party hoppers all the good reasons to rejoice! With the entry of sensational nightlife check-ins like Playboy and Club Trove, Jaipurites have got more reasons to don their swanky clothes and hit the dance floor!

10. Forever 21

The month of Love, “February” showered us with Los Angeles’ high street fashion through the launch of Forever 21 store at WTP! Although Jaipur is the Paris of India when it comes to shopping, but hey, Forever 21 is not just another brand, it is a statement. After the launch, we can think the colours of spring in Los Angeles California, think pastels, high waist trousers coupled with linen shirts and dresses with palm leaves printed on them.  Yayy!!

11. Nykaa

Nykaa has definitely made our lives easier with amazing discounts on different cosmetic brands, at one place. And when Jaipur got its very own Nykaa outlet, the girls in here couldn’t resist being super excited. So, the year 2019 has been a landmark year for all the fashion and style enthusiasts when the girls can stop tapping their phones and get the real feel of shopping cosmetics from Nykaa!

12. Sephora

Adding another destination to purchase premium make-up and skincare products, the revolutionary French make-up brand took the flight to Jaipur in 2019! Did you miss the launch when attractive Sephora dance troops, awe-struck the spectators with their amazing moves? The world’s largest and best beauty retailer’s flagship store was inaugurated by Rajsamand MP, Princess Diya Kumari at World Trade Park. Taste The Flavours Of The Golden Triangle At Jaipur Marriott

The Golden Triangle, covering the lands of maharajas and nawabs/ mughals in the three cities of Jaipur, Agra, and Delhi makes for amust visit travel plan for any traveler. But did you know these three destinations have a global following for the unique food and the flavors of authentic spices?

Buckle up as we’re taking you on a journey connecting the golden triangle of flavours- you heard it right, where you can relish the perfect blend of spicy Jaipuri-khade-masale, Delhi’s subtle tanginess and Agra’s Mughal flavours in every bite. We are raving about the ongoing food festival at Saffron, Jaipur Marriott Hotel.
The festival is a true delight to rejuvenate with flavours of India picked up from the locales.

As we reached there, we were totally overwhelmed with the fresh vibes, and balmy aura of tranquility. Soothing live music enticed us and the antiques from ancient era took us down memory lane to the time where our grannies used to make mouth-watering succulent gastronomical dishes.

In this mesmerizing milieu of classic fine-dine setting and highly courteous staff we couldn’t resist to gorge upon the ravishing cuisines of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

For starters, we had a refreshing beverage mocktail: ‘Jaipur Royal’ which was prepared with orange and mint and was quite enticing for our taste buds as it was the perfect mix of the ingredients.

With our golden triangle journey still pending, we were thrilled with the ardent aroma of rich flavours everywhere. Baffled by such a wide variety of the gastronomic food of all the three states; ultimately we asked the chef to serve us his favourites! And that was the best decision—we had the best vegetarian platter served with mouth-watering delicacies we had never eaten before.

Vinegar soaked onions blended with traditional Delhi spices and made into ‘Paneer Khatta Pyaaz’ perfectly complemented the ‘Khammiri roti,’ a tender thin layer with a crispy base of bread. With fragrance of Dilli in the air, we enjoyed the quintessential ‘Lal Kot ki subz biryani’ with rich and creamy ‘bhindi ka raita’, a whipped savoured yogurt garnished with thin and salty julienned ladyfingers.

The khade-masale(whole spices) were lavishly used in the gourmet appetizers like the ‘Jaipuri Sangri ki seekh’. Made with Jaipur Sangri, the seekh kebab had a rich fragrance of tamarind and was bliss for our spicy cravings.

Ria, my colleague; fell for the relatively blandish ‘Purani Delhi Ka Bharwan Aloo’. What intrigued us about this dish was its crispy coating of papad with smooth and tender barbequed kebabs inside which melted softly in the mouth.

After such a lavish dinner, we could have left but somehow the meal felt incomplete without a dessert. To our delight we were served these luscious mithais of the golden triangle in typical mitti-ki cutlery and was something we would never miss. The chilled candy rose petal ‘gulab-ki ice cream’ served with piping hot ‘gulab jamun‘ rich with nuts made our meal unforgettable. The entire episode left a deep essence of incredible Jaipur, Agra and Delhi with us to cherish forever.

Jaipur Beat highly recommends each one of you to visit the fest, as it is not an affair just for the foodies but for those who are deeply attached to Indian roots and want to revisit the old memory lane or for those who want to explore a new journey of northern India. From the first sip of the beverage to the last bite of the dessert; the flavorsome culinary will certainly take you back to the essence of our very own Indian soul. The way all the flavours representing separate states complimented one another was exquisite and therefore youmust be a part of this grand occasion.

We are grateful to the head chef, Mr. Ranjeet Singh and his team for enlightening us with such an overwhelming evening. Through this festival Mr. Singh wants the common man to encounter a trail of forgotten flavours for which he personally wandered the locales of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur and handpicked their authentic spices to recreate them and revive the soulful taste in the most explicit way.

Mind you, you can engage in this fantastic experience and savor this assortment of flavours only at Saffron at The Marriott, everyday from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm till 15th July 2018.

‘Food for the body is not enough. There must be food for the soul’- Dorothy Day

Don’t we all agree with this notion? Jaipur has been witnessing a vogue of festivals and carnivals since past ten years. However, this excitement is doubled when there’s a Food Festival in town. Mr Dushyant Singh who is the proud owner of the Cafe’ On The House, and the brain behind the unique culinary affair The Gourmet Getaway,  following the successful inaugural edition of The Gourmet Getaway Food Festival held in March 2017, is all set with a spanking new season which is to be held in January 2018. IMG_9316On 17th August 2017, Mr. Dushyant founder Gourmet Getaway, organized a pre-event brunch at On The House for city bloggers and food connoisseurs. Professional chefs with an experience of more than 15 years from Rambagh Palace and Leela group of hotels were responsible for making the meals a proper delight. In the upcoming Gala Food Festival, there’ll be a wide range of cuisines and emphasis will be paid on those dishes that are not easily available in town- Mr. Dushyant added.IMG_9298IMG_9317What a sheer bliss! We were truly delighted to experience food where the creativity and ingenuity was at its best. There were some spectacularly baked marcoons and the pesto parmesan cheese rolls were over the moon! They simply added to the ecstasy. The happiness after sinking teeth into these dishes was similar to what you feel when you realise the coconut from which you just drank water has malai in it or when you chug coke after eating dominos. Now you surely have understood how heavenly the food was. No doubt we are excitingly waiting for the next season just announced 🙂IMG_9306IMG_9327In a conversation with Jaipur Beat, Mr. Dushyant mentioned that the event will be organized in the first week on January. He further announced that this’ll be a never seen before feast where international chefs would also be invited. He believes that the authenticity and traditional quality of food is what the people desire.

There will be gala event at Nand Mahal and other events based on unique themes which will be scheduled at different times. The venue for these places will be separate and decided accordingly. Moreover, the event will focus on an open market concept. The target would be to promote small entrepreneurs to bring their ideas and specialities forward.

His ideas seem absolutely stupendous and would make every Japurite savour this moment. The aim of Gourmet Gateaway is to usher a revolution in the food industry by bringing the best and the most professional chefs. The best part being that every month from now onwards, pre-events would be organised.IMG_9299So, prepare yourselves for this perfectly miraculous occasion this New Year!

Home Cafe by Mr. Beans – The pioneer of cafe culture in Jaipur City

If we rewind the timeline of Jaipur almost 13 years back, we will find that the pink city has already had a rendezvous with its first café, Mr. Beans. No doubt that in a very short while, Mr. Beans became the most famous place for young generation to hang out with friends while munching on their favorite snacks and having great coffee. Fast Forward to 2017 Mr. Beans has converted itself into Home Café by Mr. Beans, a full-fledged diner where along with an amazing Tea Parlor and mouth watering snacks you can also have a full meal if you choose to.

Very recently Home Café by Mr. Beans introduced a winter menu to their list and Jaipur Beat got a chance to be a part of the tasting session for the same. Now we couldn’t be happier as we at Jaipur Beat are big foodies however we got even happier once we reached Home Café and saw the menu, as some of the most delicious dishes were mentioned on the menu and we couldn’t just wait for it to start.

As if somebody just heard our tummies talking, we were immediately served with very delicious carrot and ginger soup and what next the appetizer did its job and we became hungrier to binge on all the delicacies that were coming our way.

Among the starters we were served with amazing Gouda Chilli Jam Crostini, Grilled Chicken Sausages, the oh so delicious Baked brie Parcel and truffle wedges. Winters or no winters, we could munch on these amazing dishes in every whether.

The starters were then followed by scrumptious main course. Now, there are only two moments when your heart skips a beat one is when you see pizza coming your way and second is when you see pizza coming your way…we mean nothing else can ever make you feel so happy then Pizza. In our case, Pizza is Bae, stands true. So, when the classic Pizza Margherita was served, everybody had their eyes on it and we bet you that Home Café by Mr. Beans is one of the finest places to have it in the city. Along with it we got to taste Funghi & Cheese Ravioli, Herbed Risotto with Cherry Tomato and Basil, Grilled Rosemary & Thyme Chicken with Ramekin Eggs.

By the time we finished our main course everyone realized that we had eaten more than we could. Nobody seemed to regret that because as soon as we were asked for desserts everybody was ready to taste their Belgian Waffles served with honey and cream and not to forget the Dark Chocolate Cheesecake. Yes and unfortunately there was an end to eating after that but not before we tasted their amazing Organic rose Tea. The best end one could have ever imagined.

By the time you come to this section of the blog we are sure most of you must have already rushed out to visit Home café to munch on their new dishes and indulge yourself in the most sought after luxury called food. For those of you who haven’t please do so if you do not wish to miss out on one of the best cafes in Jaipur.

The Kulhad system of serving the golgappa will definitely make you go nostalgic about the Delhi streets.

There is Fantasy! There is Food! There’s Wahrabia! @Barbeque Nation

Inspired by popular folklore the Arabian Nights and Aladdin, Barbeque Nation, pioneer in India to promote ‘DIY’ (do-it-yourself) cuisine with a concept of live on-the-table grill is now offering exotic dining experience with Arabian food festival ‘Wahrabia Fest’. As we are always ready to adventure and experiment with food, it was definitely the perfect time to experience the magic of Arabian food that too in Jaipur 🙂

So, here we go….

The magic of Arabian nights with lively and dreamy decorations were enough to set our mood for Sunday lunch. The servers sporting Arabian attire made us feel like ‘AAKA’ actually coming straight from Aladin’s Jinn story.

We set for the best feast with some high expectations and believe it; we were not at all disappointed.

There was a lot to avail and it was truly difficult to made a choice. We left it to the server and within few minutes of our entry we were devouring some scrumptious Arabian dishes both veg and non veg and complimentary drink.

Starters which they served on grill at our table included jalepeno live mushroom, sweet and smoky pineapple, Soya Chaap, Paneer capsicum. Crsipy corn though lacks that Arabian flavor but was good. Other than that the tantalizing vegetarian preparations were Afelia Batata, Felafel Pita pckets, Curried Chickpeas, Sheesh Kudra, Zucchini Fasigratin.

Live Grill

Crispy Corn

In the non veg section, the spicy flavors of Arabia comes up in Jojeh Kebab – chunks of chicken marinated in saffron and grilled to perfection, Rubian Mashwi – chargrilled prawns marinated with Lebanese spices, Dabel Kebab, Arabian Kafta Lamb Seekh – minced lamb on seekh, Farareej el Fahem and Samak Harrrah Al Shara – Pomfret baked with crushed garlic and coriander and served with pepper sauce.

Veg Tawa Platter

The high light was the live veg-nonveg counter, where one can bask in the aroma of marinated, skewered meat sizzling over hot grills and tawas. But frankly, dishes from the non veg live counter were not so good when compared to other dishes served on platter.

For desserts, traditional dishes were there on offer– Baklava – rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with honey, Muhallabieh – Creamy milky pudding with roses, pistachio and lemon syrup, Kataif Mihshi – pancakes stuffed with mascarpone cheese and served with sweetened rose syrup.

It was just not the food but the overall ambiance that will make you fall in love with the place. Though crowded as it was Sunday but the service was drastic fast. I think that seriously deserves a pat with so many restaurants coming up everyday what is missed is the service in most of these.

The most pleasurable moment was when the attendant asked us to click our pic and before our lunch was over we were given the printed photograph of our family. Wow, the gesture was really unique that made our day really special 🙂

PS- Remember don’t leave a tip. The 4% service tax is already included they were kind enough to mention the same and returned our tip.

BBQ6 (1).JPG

Fo a fun filled family or friends time, a visit to Barbeque Nation during the ongoing Wahrabia Fest where you can eat to your heart’s content is definitely not a bad choice 🙂

‘The Wahrabia Arabian’ food festival is on till 13th March 2016!
