6 Reasons Why You Should Not Miss Playing Holi

Holi, the joyous festival of colours and celebrations is one of the most awaited festivals in Jaipur. Everywhere you can spot Jaipurites purchasing different shades of colours, pichkaris and how can we miss everyone’s favourite water balloons! In every temple, you can see Phaag utsav being celebrated with great razzmatazz.

You must be thinking that every Jaipurite loves this festival, you got that wrong! Some people believe that the colours of Holi are not good for the skin and they are harmful to the environment too. But guess, what with proper precautions taken, this festival is as healthy as you can think. Here are the reasons why.

–          Playing Holi makes you summer ready

After a long, tiring and lazy winter that we all face, the singing and dancing at Holi makes us all summer ready. Our body loosens up a bit and we become more active after the celebrations.

Reliving The Amazing Memories At Kanak Ghati, Jaipur.

Kanak Ghati is one place where we all, at one point of our lives has been to. In retrospect, Kanak Ghati was the no. 1 picnic spot for the school picnics as well as family picnics. The maintenance of the historical garden has been kept up to date by the government and the café in the park’s premises still serves good food. The feel of Kanak Ghati still remains the same but, the people are so caught up in their own lives’, they hardly get any time to revisit this beautiful garden.

IMG_9194.JPG

Kanak Ghati is also famously called Kanak Vrindavan, it is named so as it was constructed based on the Lord Krishna’s Vrindavan. The picturesque idols of Lord Krishna and the Gopis, surrounded by the beautiful flowers at Kanak Ghati brings alive the spirit of the playful God in the truest form.

IMG_9209.JPG

There are various scenes recreated around Kanak Ghati with idols of Lord Krishna. The construction of the garden dates back to more than 300 years when the idol of Lord Govind Dev Ji had to be shifted from Vrindavan. The temples in Kanak Ghati area were constructed to house the idol of Govind Dev Ji, but in 1716, the idol was shifted to the now called Govind Dev Ji Temple in City Palace area in Jaipur.

IMG_9178.JPG

The particular spot that Kanak Ghati is at, the valley below Nahargarh was specially chosen for its construction as it adds special grace to the majestic Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, and the Jal Mahal Palace. If you are looking to explore the heritage of Jaipur, there’s no better place than the trio of palaces, Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Amer Palace.

IMG_9215.JPG

With very close proximity to the great palaces, Kanak Ghati is definitely a place to visit for a serene experience and the feel of Jaipur. The pools and fountains at the Ghati make sure the beauty of the Ghati remains extraordinary, and everyone in the family enjoys the getaway as much. As Jaipur is widely called, the Chotti Kashi, for the number of temples that it houses, Kanak Ghati adds another exciting layer of holiness and fun to the city of Jaipur.

IMG_9230.JPG

Kanak Ghati is a perfect full day escape from the hustle and bustle of daily lives we are so caught up in, the surrounding of Kanak Ghati make it the absolute serene garden in the city of Jaipur. The Ghati has a picturesque view of the great Aravalis and lies just below the valley of Nahargarh, there is certainly no other place with a view and location like this, in the entire world.

Its March Already & Winter Season Refuses To Go Away From Jaipur

Winters seem to stick in Jaipur longer than the usual this time. The weather took a turn but we’re back to square one, freezing in chilly breeze all over again. We’re sure Jaipurites must be living with confusion on a daily basis and we’re here to tell you how.

–          Woollen Clothes, Inside or Out?

When we almost decided to keep the woollen clothes inside, the weather ditched us right then. We neatly packed them and were almost bidding it a goodbye, but the weather was in a different mood and we had to take them out all over again.

–          Umbrellas?

Yes! Umbrellas are out and we are not joking. Going out for shopping or planning to visit your favourite picnic spot, don’t forget to carry an umbrella with you because you never know, the rain god might be showering its blessing on us anytime of the day!

          Fan or no fan?

At one point of time, we started switching on the fan, isn’t it true Jaipurites? But now every moment of the day is so confusing that we can’t decide what needs to be done L Winter, summer, humid, we’ve experienced it all in the past 15 days and still we’re stuck at the same question, fan or no fan?

–          Holi in pullovers?

This year seems like we will be playing the festival of colours in pullovers! Imagine all of us in bright coloured pullovers and splashing colours & water on each other 😀 Doesn’t it sound strange ! We might experience it this year Jaipurites, be prepared for it already 😉

–          Weather cold or not?

Alarm clock rings, we wake up to see the beautiful sunrise and guess what? You don’t see one! Yes, the weather has decided to play hide and seek with us. You wake up one day to see a bright sun shining right at you, the next day you see the rain showers as soon as you open your window and the very next day a cold chilly breeze blowing right at your face. We’re sick and tired of it. Why can’t the weather decide what it wants once and for all :/

–          Gajar Ka Halwa or Ice Cream?

Left in a pickle? Can’t decide whether your taste buds want Gajar Ka Halwa or is it already time for Ice Cream? Don’t worry, enjoy both side by side while watching the scenic view of Jaipur! Happy binge-eating 😀

Bhawani Singh Ji · Bravery of Jaipur · Jaipur · News · nostalgia

With Wing Commander Abhinandan’s return, Jaipur relives the memories of our Hero from the pages of history

Famous for majestic forts and palaces, Jaipur has its own significance in terms of its brave warrior stories. The stories when Kings of Rajasthan were fighting with bravery at the battleground. Not to forget that the ultimate charm of Pink city lies in its brave stories of the bygone era.

People travel through this city and explore the heritage while hearing the legends of the brave heart of the city. The one such story is of HH Brigadier Sawai Bhawani Singh MVC of Jaipur’s royal family.

bhawani-singh-4_1508.jpg

Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh was the last Maharaja of Jaipur, as the princely states dissolved at the time, he took the throne. The legacy of Jaipur royal family has been widely acclaimed around the world, but is in no way limited to palaces, Bhawani Singh Ji proved his mettle in the war against Pakistan in 1971. Bhawani Singh Ji commanded the 10th Parachute Regiment and captured Chacharo, Sindh, he pulled a crucial plug from Pakistan’s regime which ultimately led to India winning the war.

This was the biggest territorial conquest in terms of territory. The Chachro Raid of 1971 was Indian Army’s biggest Surgical strike in Pakistan for four days, the battalion infiltrated deep inside enemy territory and carried out raids on enemy positions. For his bravery and courage, the Maharaja was awarded the Mahavir Chakra.

Then were the times of newspapers, an article was published a day before his arrival to Jaipur after the war, about Bhawani Singh Ji arriving the next day. As Bhawani Singh Ji arrived at the Sanganer Airport, the people of Jaipur were overjoyed and welcomed him wholeheartedly, it took Bhawani Singh Ji the whole day as people all over Jaipur went out to congratulate him.

The people of Jaipur have always embraced bravery and patriotism, be it 1971 when Maharaja Bhawani Singh Ji came back to his home town Jaipur after capturing Chachro, or Abhinandan Varthaman’s homecoming in 2019. The blood of citizens of Jaipur will never run dry when it comes to celebrating the soldiers of India, every Jaipurite salutes the bravery of Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh Ji then and Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman now.  We have wholeheartedly celebrated the homecoming of our heroes.
