Gallops 2019 Held In Rajasthan

The one of a kind event ‘Gallops’ was held in Rajasthan from 2nd to 9th March 2019, this is the first time that India was chosen as the destination for Gallops. The event had 70 participants from a whopping 14 different nations. The event was for both professional and amateur horse riders.

Marwari horses sure have a fanbase around the world, they were one of the major reasons for Gallops to be held in Rajasthan.

The earlier editions of Gallops were held in, 2018 in Morocco, and 2014 in Oman. India’s was the third edition.

The passion of horse riders was tested in the 7-day event which had a travel distance of over 200kms on horses. The Marwadi Horses were chosen for being hot-blooded and fierce which made them ideal for the exemplary difficult ride.

The participants loved meeting the locals of Shekhawati and claimed it to be the best Gallops they have attended, the chief participants were former Miss France Camille Cerf and the 93-year-old Phillipe Perrier of France.

The event was a huge success and the horses proved their mettle in the ride. Each day, a huge 40kms were covered with a meagre 30mins lunch break. While the extraordinary ride was difficult for the riders, it was much more difficult for the horses.

The over 200 km ride began from Mandawa and covered Alsisar, Mahendar, Bika Ki Dhani and Fatehpur and concluded at Mandawa.

The event concluded with a friendly polo match and the participants were as satisfied as they have never been.

Things to remember when you visit Jaipur for the first time

Winter is the best season to visit Jaipur- the land of heritage cocooned in colours of Rangeelo Rajasthan and blessed with a warm climate. With a boom of travellers and tourists around the city at this time, Jaipur Beat makes sure that the guests in Jaipur do not go disappointed. Here are a few things you need to remember before you come to Jaipur.

  1. Jaipur is not so hot after all!

The most important thing you need to remember is that although situated in Rajasthan the desert state, Jaipur is not and hot as it is assumed to be. The days are pretty warm but the nights and early mornings are chilly. You don’t want to miss the early morning and night views in Jaipur while sneezing in your blanket. So do carry your woollens.

2. Food can catch you off guard.

When in Jaipur, there is a variety of Rajasthani food from Daal Bati Churma to Kachori, Samosa, Mirchi Vada, Laal Maas, Mirchi Tapore, Gatte ki sabzi to Ker Sangri for drool over. If you are not a regular fan for spicy food, avoid eating too much. The spices and fried food can give you a grumpy stomach and act as a spoilsport on your trip.

3. Don’t forget the camera!

A camera is something you surely shouldn’t forget when you travel to Jaipur because the city promises some breathtakingly rich-in-culture-and-colours sites. Like Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, City Palace, view from nahargarh, Jal mahal, Albert Hall, Patrika Gate and so much more. You would definitely want to capture all the colours that Jaipur has to offer.

4. Beat the heat

Even though it’s winter, the days is Jaipur get a pretty Sun. So it is always a good idea to carry your sunglasses, cap, sunscreen as well as the water bottle with you because you surely don’t want to be getting sunburns.

JLF JB.jpg

5. Make space for souvenirs

You wouldn’t want to leave Jaipur without buying some authentic Jaipuri stuff like block print dresses, quilts, bed sheets, Jaipuri jootis, leather bags, Lac jewellery and other embellishments etc. Keep your luggage light so that when you leave Jaipur you have enough space to carry souvenirs.

If you plan to visit Jaipur in January make sure your dates clash with either the Kite Festival or the Jaipur Literature Festival. While one offers you to witness a sky booming with colourful kites all day and gleaming chandelier kites at night, the other one promises to be a sumptuous feast of ideas for your mind.
