They have quite an interesting menu that covers up everything from Indian fusion, Continental, Italian, Pan Asian Starters and what not. They even have Continental Mexican Italian from around the world from which we tried Chicken Roulade and believe us it was damn good. It had chicken rolled with cheese, spinach, mashed potatoes served with garlic sauce.

Tagliatelle Polo Fungi Pasta is another dish we tried which was creamy enough to make you fall in love with it in the first bite. For those who don’t know tagliatelle is pasta variety which was cooked with mushrooms in a cream sauce served with garlic bread.

And lastly, we had Egg Benedict which is an American breakfast that consists of eggs, English muffin and hollandaise sauce. All in all, we liked all the three dishes and so we are pretty sure their rest of the menu must be delicious too. We have to leave some stuff for our next visit too 🙂

Jaipur Author Launches Her New Book “Fall of a Bride”

Every girl dreams of having a life similar to the fairy tales that she has grown up reading; the fantasy of a perfect house, lovable parents and a spouse to protect, respect and love her till eternity. How would it end up being if things do not happen as per the fantasies? Reality will strike and things will appear crystal clear and fairy tales would become just fictional tales that have nothing to do with reality. A similar case of a young girl Sayra has been discussed in the newly published book Fall of a Bride by Noush, which will give you a whole new perception to what Life can be if not a fairy tale.

Born and brought up in the culturally rich heritage city of Jaipur, an educator by vocation and a writer by passion,Noush aka Anoushka Singh is all set to set a benchmark in the field of writing with the launch of her new book.Going candid about her work and experience, Anoushka shares the journey of Fall of a Bride with us.

The dilemmas of a perfect life beautifully presented with love, respect and dignity is something that every girl knits but life has already kept a harsh reality in the attic for each one of them where ignorance cannot be a bliss. They want to grow happily with their parents learning new things, they want to fall in love, want to sing songs and write poetry for their lovers and finally get married to them and have a lovely family. Not everyone gets what they want. Sometimes, they become a victim of disrespect and hatred which breaks them brick by brick. Something no one would ever dream of.

She even believes that writing for a genre which supports feminism is not easy as it gives voice to the unheard and change is not something which is readily accepted by all. Adding further to it, she said that people talk about it but they are ignorant to the miseries that girls go through in their own house and reading this book will make them think about the same. “Speaking about someone else’s pinnacle of success and not letting your own daughter to develop is one major issue”, said the author.

Fall of a bride is one piece of art that speaks for a bride brought up in an environment of disputed parenting and her journey of her dilemma towards life. “Writing means giving words to your emotions. Years of experience and observation have compelled me to pen down my thoughts in form of this book”, quoted the emerging writer from Jaipur when asked about what writing means to her. Sharing her experience and journey of writing the book, she even spoke, “The thought of bringing out such stories to the world made me write the story of Sayra (the protagonist) because not everyone knows about these things. Writing about them is like giving them platform to bring it to the notice of others.”

Its Raining Fashion In Jaipur !!

Jaipur with its incredible history , art and culture, is now adding one more feather to its cap by hosting various Fashion shows.

One of the leading and the most prestigious fashion institutes, Pearl Academy, recently organised an astonishing fashion show in its annual grading event “Portfolio 15” at Hotel Clarks Amer, Jaipur. And guess who was the esteemed Guest of Honor? India’s most successful fashion designer – Manish Malhotra !!

Portfolio ’15 presented more than 100 innovative designs by its graduating students which were a perfect amalgamation of Western and Indian styles by these talented and young fashion designers. With high beats of music in the background, the crowd was thrilled and ecstatic. The show witnessed a huge audience which encompassed young fashion enthusiasts , HNIs and some leading fashion designers of the industry.

The collections showcased off beat color combinations and clearly a lot of experimentation was done with the outfits. The skirts, maxies, blouses were definitely a delight to watch.  The designers also displayed a concept ‘Monochrome’ which defines one color or the shades of one color in the show.

The most intriguing collection that was seen on the ramp was ‘The Post Apocalyptic Bride’ by Pooja Verma that focused on post-apocalyptic fashion using materials that remain behind even when everything else decays. The collection was impressive given that it was created out of nothing and the creativity and imagination of the designer was beyond beautiful and eccentric.

The designers also portrayed the look of a hunter man in the wasteland with the  concept ” Gypsy” which showcased Junglee and Raw Look.

Apart from depicting the designer clothes based on various themes , there was a round which showcased attractive “Jewelry” by famous designers.

The event ended on a high note and marked the success of the fashion designers of the academy 🙂

4 reasons why we love to visit World Trade Park, Jaipur

World Trade Park : The new found attraction for the locals in Jaipur and a place that is so complete in itself that some of us could even think of spending a life there. World Trade Park (now known as WTP) is not a mall, it is one of the biggest buildings in Jaipur with huge brand outlets, a multiplex, food court with a wide variety of cuisines, etc. Apart from all this, there are a few main reasons that makes WTP one of the favorite hangouts for Jaipurites.

1) Because it is less like a mall and more like a monument: Even the price of parking ticket proves that.

2) To get beautiful pictures clicked while leaning on the railing.

3) To go and check out the huge pompous brand stores and feel proud of it even though you know you’re going to shop from your favorite street shop anyway.

4) The wide variety of food in the canteen of Cinepolis which might cost you more than the movie ticket especially if you’re a foodie.

Lohri and Sankranti Jaipur’s way

Do you know what one of the best things about our country is? That no matter where the festival originates, it just belongs to and spreads its joy across almost the entire nation J On this note we wish you all a very happy Lohri !! This festival originated in the state of Punjab to celebrate the harvest of Rabi crops, and went on to become a way to celebrate the fertility and joy of life.

Lohri is celebrated and enjoyed with a lot of dhoom dhaam in our lovely pink city as well. This festival offers a beautiful sight of people, friends and family dressed in bright colored attires, singing and dancing to the drum beats along with bonfire. The Punjabis in Jaipur living in Raja Park and Malviya Nagar areas especially started preparing for Lohri celebrations few days back and are all set for the energetic bonfire tonight !!

Apart from just dancing and doing the all time favorite Bhangra dance, everyone throws sweets, puffed rice, peanuts and popcorn into the flames signifying letting go of all the worries and grudges while singing popular folksongs and exchange greetings.  Last but not the least comes that thing which is the life of every festival; Food 😀 Since it’s Punjabi, it has to be the mouth-watering and delicious winter traditional dinner of makki-di-roti (millet bread) te sarson-da-saag (cooked mustard herbs) !! For dessert or meetha, sesame seed or Til is an inseparable part of the Lohri celebrations. Eating Til in any form like Til ke laddoo is considered be auspicious both for the festival and for the taste buds 😉

Kai Po Che !!

The celebrations don’t end here!! As the fire of Lohri fades away, it gives way to another festival that is enjoyed with crazy fervor in Jaipur; Makar Sankranti, celebrated on 14th Jan every year. By the way did you guys know the meaning of Makar Sankranti? Makar means the zodiac sign Capricorn and Sankranti means transition of Sun from the Sagittarius zodiac sign to Capricorn, interesting right??

While all the men gang up at the roof tops and start flying their kites as soon as the sun rises, most of the women are passionately cooking the delicious dishes for the day. Friends come together for the day and even strangers meet at the flying get-togethers and are seen having the time of their lives.

And just for your information, kite flying is not just a festival in Jaipur, it’s a war 😉

Once the competition sets in, hardly anyone is a stranger, and the fun and excitement is unbeatable! Kites are flied across the city, at terraces, community parks, pre-decided venues like the Chaughan stadium, Ram Niwas Garden, etc.

Jaipur Tourism Development Corporation organises the International Kite Festival at a local stadium every year, where kite enthusiasts from all across the world show off their skills. A kite market is held, alongside which are food stalls, cultural performances and special kite displays at night, when illuminated kites – known as Tukals – are flown (14th January – 16 January 2014).

As and when the kites are being flown, comes an arena of amazing food i.e. dal ke pakode, peanut chikkis, jaggery (gur) and what not !!

The entire pink city looks like its bathing in a riot of colors in the form of different kind of kites that brighten up the sky and the sound of ‘Woh kaata’ is musical to the ears and talks about what the lively pink city is all about !!

The Celebrations Begin with Navratri :)

So what do the Navratri and this festival-full month mean to you Jaipurites? Poojas at home, a lot of holidays from school or college, lots of typical traditional outfits, dandiya & garba plans, fasting for peace and prosperity and a lot more is what October indeed promises. When it comes to celebrating traditions and making the most out of these happy times we never lag behind. After all this is the exact time to meet all the fellow youngsters of town and know the juicy gossips in the air ;). You just have to know the right place to be!

The days are going to start with an auspicious pooja and an all-too-enchanting Om Jai Ambey Gauri bhajan. The pleasant feeling you derive makes this a happy time. Some start the Navratri with prayers at Amer’s Maata’s Mandir. For the next nine days, prayers and fasting are going to be rigorous and dedicated.

The dandiya nights and garba evenings are going to be eclectic, fun and pleasant. While these events bring the mood of the season alive, they are the temporarily the most ‘it’ places of the pink city. Ask the young Jaipurites and they will know how happening Sundaram, Jai Club and Grassfields’ dandiya galas get 😉 Why should the grown-ups be any behind? Abhivyakti, by Dainik Bhaskar certainly is one of the largest and the oldest garba gathering of the city. There are even preparatory dance classes, planned by the organisers. Abhivyakti is as traditional as it gets!

The 9 day Navratri festival is followed by the Vijay Dashmi on the 10th day. It is the culmination of the Ramlila which is enacted ceremoniously during Dussehra, the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghanada are burnt to celebrate the victory of good (Rama) over evil forces on the ‘Vijaya Dashami’ day. Ofcourse we all have learnt that at school and from our good-old Ramayana show on Doordarshan. How many of us have special family memories and those school enactments fresh in our minds?!

Oh why Ranbir ? Why be Besharam ?

When you have a movie directed by Abhinav Kashyap, director of Dabangg and have Rishi, Neetu and Ranbir Kapoor acting together for the first time, you really are looking for some thing special. Ranbir Kapoor’s releases are supposed to be the most looked forward releases these days, who can forget the massive opening of Yeh Jawaani. So we at Jaipur Beat decided to watch the movie on the very first day that was released on Wednesday and not Friday for a change due to 2nd October holiday.
The movie starts with a pretty impressive looking Javed Jaafri (Chandel) as a villian. Must say he is one of the most underrated actors of Hindi films. That Ranbir Kapoor is getting names such as Bunny (YJHD) and now Bubbli in this movie is some thing that defies any logic. May be he is trying really hard to live up to his image of chocolaty hero. Any ways Bubbli is a car thief who also happens to be an orphan. Like a modern day Robinhood, he donates every income from his “not so noble profession” to his orphanage. Pallavi Sharda (Tara), a debutant, is supposed to work in an architecture firm as manager and lives in Delhi-6 kind of colony in Delhi. That she buys a 25 lakh worth of Mercedes B Class in the very first scene of the movie to attend a friend’s wedding is the lamest excuse you can come across. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor play Police as Inspector and Constable and are called Chulbul and Bulbul Chautala in this movie.
So Bubbli steals the Merc of Tara and hands it over to Chandel not knowing its hers. Now as he was deeply in love with her and clearly indicated that by barging into her office once, he realises his mistake and decides to steal the Merc again from Chandel. The first half of the movie is totally disconnected and clearly misses any connection. In one scene Ranbir is dancing with all funny clothes and in another he is trying to act like SRK in a shaadi song.
The story takes a turn when it is found out that the car which Bubbli stole back also has huge cash in its boot. So the cash takes a full circle from Bubbli to Chautalas to Chandel. The climax is totally predictable and you can even guess the next scene. There are funny moments in between but overall the director has tried to make Ranbir look and act like Salman in maximum part of the movie. Now having a Salman hangover is one thing and asking Ranbir to act like him is totally another matter. The climax has scenes taken out from Gadar, Ajab Prem ki gajab kahaani and of course Dabangg. Watching Rishi Kapoor with his physique act like a tough cop is quite a hilarious moment of the film.
Its hard to understand why Ranbir Kapoor would do this movie. He looked good in parts but again those cheap dialogues do not augur well with his profile. And what was the need to show his butt crack once again ? Probably he took the title of this movie way too seriously. The wikipedia introduction of Pallavi Sharda states that she is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. Watching her moves that look so cheap and vulgar at times, its hard to be convinced by this intro. She does look pretty at times but fails miserably in emotional scenes. Rishi and Neetu Kapoor could have been the highlight of the movie. In fact Neetu Kapoor looks extremely graceful even as a constable. Although at times they do sound a genuine couple but the cheap dialogues take away the authenticity of the relationship.
The songs felt forced and some of them try to copy music of 70’s and 80’s. The music by Lalit Pandit (of Jatin-Lalit fame) is overall average with an exception of  Tu Hai  by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal and Dil Ka jo Haal hai by Abhijeet and Shreya.
At the end it was really disappointing to see Ranbir Kapoor in this movie. But the blessing in disguise is what would be the fate of this movie if he wasn’t there. If you have nothing substantial to do in life and are ok with a little bit double meaning cheap comedy this movie is for you other wise staying away from this is advisable.
