Passionate towards keeping the art form of Rajasthan alive and promoting it worldwide through art works and auctions, the artist discussed how he will be contributing for the same with the help of his two major events-

“It is said that charity begins from home but in my case I will probably have to go the other way round. I am in talks with a few NGOs in the city and once I am back from Mumbai I am keen on doing something for a cause here in Jaipur.” – Suvigya Sharma
We think that nothing can be better than spreading the art and culture of Rajasthan with the help of art works and paintings and Suvigya Sharma has been able to keep it alive through his work showing his love for the state.

Slow and Steady, Bajirao Mastani Seems To Win The Race

Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and even PC for a bit , we have seen that before? Remember Ram Leela? And here comes another movie with an eponymous movie title narrating the story of the Maratha Peshwa Bajirao (Ranveer Singh) and half Muslim half Rajput Mastani (Deepika Padukone) which is nothing like the previous Romeo-Juliet rip-off.

Like you know, the movie doesn’t begin with the grand entry of either of the actors, but with the flamboyant set you can’t take your eyes off of ! And then begins the story of Maratha kingdom reigned by Bajirao who has a beautiful wife Kashibai (Priyanka Chopra) and a headstrong mother Radhabai (Tanvi Azmi) and midst all his glorious victories, he runs into Mastani a.k.a Deepika, who looks so gorgeous as the warrior of Bundelkhand, dressed majorly in the palette of beige and white, typically justifying her Muslim look.

Deepika - BM

The movie goes on with some history, wars, romance, heavy poetic lines some of which are actually beautifully written, and it sure moves at a leisurely pace, but what grows on you are both the lead characters. Ranveer Singh wins you over and over again with his perfect body, swift walk and the smooth Marathi accent that literally steals your heart and makes you believe that no other actor in Bollywood right now could have bettered the role of Bajirao.

Ranveer -BM

The next in line is Deepika, who initially comes across as a loyal warrior, an obsessive dreamy lover, but eventually her pain and unconditional love grows on you and the passion between them can be felt in every scene where they are together or even when they are apart.

One noticeable thing in the movie was the excessive use of water, be it Bajirao walking in a pool of water to greet an enemy, pouring water on Kashibai in a love making scene, crossing a river in a rainstorm to meet Mastani or standing in a fountain extending a hug to her, the movie uses water extensively and proves the same in the climax.

Priyanka fits well in her mellowed character of a helpless faithful wife who watches her husband fall in love with another lady but deals with it gracefully and honourably. Tanvi Azmi as Radhabai is shown to have extremely opposite relationships with Kashibai and Mastani, where she is extremely fond of the former, she truly hates the latter. Mahesh Manjrekar, Aditya Pancholi and Milind Soman are also there, although the big question is why ! But we don’t mind Milind Soman because he still looks like an Old Spice 😉
The one thing that really lets the movie down is its music. Except ‘Deewani Mastani’, sung by Shreya Ghoshal, every song is more of a lullaby and gives a feeling of déjà vu.

All in all, the movie is a onetime watch for the grandiosity, costumes, passion, colors, dialogues, romance, a little bit of history and Ranveer Singh, who according to us is the actual hero of this film.

Rating – 3.5 Beats

‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ Is An Interesting Journey To Take

If you are planning to watch Dil Dhadakne Do with the benchmark of Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in your mind, you are probably being a bit unfair there. Because a masterpiece can’t be created again and again, but if you have an open mind, normal expectations and a soft corner for the star cast, you are going to enjoy this sailing experience!

Before anything else, the first thing which came as a surprise was when we read this on the screen: ‘Special Appearance – Farhan Akhtar’. We felt fooled because half the reason why the audience would be drawn towards the movie is this MARD.

The movie begins just like a fairy tale, where a narrative voice introduces us to a high-society family and its members, along with acquainting us with their dark/hypocritical side in a sarcastic undertone. The film essentially revolves around the Mehra family with Kamal (Anil Kapoor), a rich ‘self made’ businessman who can’t stop talking about his achievements, his wife Neelam (Shefali Shah), a typical Socialite with thousands of insecurities, their son Kabir (Ranveer Singh) whose passion lies in flying planes but he has been told since ‘bachpan’ that he has to handle his father’s business and their elder daughter Ayesha (Priyanka Chopra), a successful entrepreneur who is living in an unsatisfying marriage and despite having a better business acumen, she has no say in her family business as she is no more a ‘Mehra’.

On Kamal and Neelam’s 30th anniversary, they plan a cruise and there begins a trip which changes their lives forever.

Ranveer falls in love with fearless Farah (Anushka) while his parents want him to get married to Noorie (Ridhima Sud) to crack business deal with her father, and midst all this chaos and shrewd games, what you witness is a huge bunch of rich and pretentious families whose spurious whims will shock you as well as make you laugh your guts off. The journey takes a jolting turn when Ayesha tells her family that she needs a divorce and the next thing she knows, her ex beau Sunny (Farhan Akhtar) is on the cruise!

What follows is a series of hilarious scenes, dialogues, confrontations, confessions and of course, some foot tapping songs!  What truly stands out in this movie is Ranveer Singh, who with his terrific comic timing, expressions and impeccable acting, pulls off the character of Kabir. His chemistry with Anushka Sharma (who is the one with special appearance) looks as fresh as Band Bajaa Baraat and makes you smile especially when break into a dance to the beats of ‘Pehli Baar’.  Who follows him in performance is Priyanka Chopra who in her effortless style and strong character shines throughout the movie, and is exceptionally powerful in a few scenes like the one where she tells her husband Manav (Rahul Bose)that she tried really hard to love him. Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah also play their characters really well ensuring that they are not overshadowed by the young and beautiful cast.

The movie had some slow moments, some where the narration was getting on the nerves, and some where things looked too larger than life, but if entertainment, fashion, locations, and a few laughs are what you are looking for, this definitely is a must watch.

(The Hot) Gunday

Main Poster
If drama, bromance, pouty lips and most of all apply-no-brains entertainment is what you are up for, Gunday is for you! If substance and twists to a 1970’s tale that’s been told enough number of times in the 70’s itself is what you are expecting, you are in for some extremely predictable, sometimes non-sensical, and a loud background score for 160 minutes of your time.

Arjun Priyanka

Having warned you of that, we think Gunday is not so bad after all (we belong to the 1st category). When was the last time we saw people hooting, whistling and speaking the patent dialogues before the actors, in a very modern theatre with a decent audience? If you weren’t a part of the 70’s generation, then you haven’t witnessed it (we certainly haven’t), and taken in a good spirit, it is fun: D Gunday makes you do that.

Priyanka’s lip job and Arjun baba & Ranveer baba’s metro-sexual love is the highlight we must say. So utterly funny is the movie (it is not their idea though) that a good actor like Irrfan Khan is a waste-of-talent here.
For the timing of its release, its ruling-the-current-silver-screen but yet largely unexploited for their talent actors, a desirable Priyanka Chopra, and some foot-tapping music the movie will do decently well, despite the hopelessness of its content!

Arjun Ranveer

In the end, we want to sign off saying, ‘Beta agar jigar ki jagah jigar hai, aur jigar mein dum hai, toh ek baar toh dekh hi aa yeh picture’!!
