The collections showcased off beat color combinations and clearly a lot of experimentation was done with the outfits. The skirts, maxies, blouses were definitely a delight to watch.  The designers also displayed a concept ‘Monochrome’ which defines one color or the shades of one color in the show.

The most intriguing collection that was seen on the ramp was ‘The Post Apocalyptic Bride’ by Pooja Verma that focused on post-apocalyptic fashion using materials that remain behind even when everything else decays. The collection was impressive given that it was created out of nothing and the creativity and imagination of the designer was beyond beautiful and eccentric.

The designers also portrayed the look of a hunter man in the wasteland with the  concept ” Gypsy” which showcased Junglee and Raw Look.

Apart from depicting the designer clothes based on various themes , there was a round which showcased attractive “Jewelry” by famous designers.

Give me some sunshine, give me some rain, I’ll make the best of the weather, and you’ll fall in love with me all over again!

– Umbrella

Jaipur Beat Umbrella Monsoon

If there’s one piece of advice we can give you this monsoon, it’s to go ahead and buy yourself an umbrella! We’ll give you 5 reasons for this:

1. It’s a style statement. You can’t carry an umbrella that you have thoughtfully purchased, and be lost in the crowd! These half-spherical things will always make a perfect accessory.

2. It’s a peek into your personality. Red or yellow, polka-dotted or monochrome striped, the subtly stylish or unblinkingly funky, whatever umbrella you pick, it speaks volumes about the person in you.

3. It’ll be a part of some of your most special moments. That moment when you feel like the classic Raj Kapoor or Nargis, or when you feel all Zoobi-Doobi musical like Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, it’s the umbrella effect that makes you all Bollywood-like romantic.

4. Protects you from the sun-shine and the rain alike. It lets you unleash your free-bird spirit, as it becomes your companion through a 40 degrees outside sunny weather, or a raining cats and dogs day.

Lehariya: Fashion’s Monsoon affair

One of the many tie and dye patterns, the technique of Lehariya needs no introduction. Symbolizing water waves, lehariya comes from the word leher, which stands for a wave in English. Hence, its special place for monsoons!

IMG_8436

Chiefly a Rajasthani dress design pattern, the beautiful stripes of different colours that form lehariya are a treat for the eyes in this weather. Did you know that auspicious colours of yellow and red, alternated in waves, is one of the original designs of lehariya?

Alia-Bhatt-and-varun-Samjhawan-Unplugged-Humpty-Sharma-Ki-Dulhania-_111

Coming to the monsoon of 2014, when Alia Bhatt runs around effervescently in lehariya dupattas and kurtis in Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya, and even the lady of the royal house of Jaipur, Princess Diya Kumari is spotted most in her couture of lehariya saris, the pattern has become an aesthetic trend.

The best part about lehariya is that it isn’t biased towards women. It looks as tasteful on the turbans, kurtas and the cravat! Here are some quick fashion tips on how to wear your lehariya in the monsoon of 2014:

  • A lehariya kurti with a plain skirt, or the alternate, a plain shirt with a long flowing lehariya skirt.

  • A cotton or silk turban of lehariya over any formal suit or bandhgala is a norm of the Indian weddings

Lehariya Turban

  • Kurta pyjama, with classically dyed lehariya kurta
  • Saris, suits and scarves reflect the beautiful of this weatherIMG_8297

  • Mixing traditions and blending boundaries, the Afghani Kaftan with lehariya dyed over it is going to be quiet a head-turner

The list goes on, and we’re so proud that this season’s most-adored style is a gift of Rajasthan to the fashionable men and ladies of the country!

Sky Waltz Cafe Review: A city getaway on Jaipur Delhi Highway

When the weather looked breezy on a weekday, we left the office early for a long fun drive on the Jaipur-Delhi highway. Just a kilometre or two’s drive from Amity University and NIMS institute, we spotted a Sky-Waltz Restaurant cafe on 228 KM Stone Delhi Jaipur Highway in half an hour’s drive from the city and its hustle-bustle.

Sky Waltz Jaipur Beat review

The white picket fence and the freshly-trimmed greens catch the eye and make for a very cosy entrance. Overlooking the Aravali Hills, the seating outside looks nothing short of a refreshment and romance therapy!

Sky Waltz Jaipur Beat review

As we open the doors to India’s Only Aviation themed cafe, and seat ourselves, what we see is a very eccentric ambiance that celebrates the art of flying machines. Our table had momento models of the Wright brothers aircraft, while the designs of cushions and cutlery speaks of aero-science and its history. White wrought-iron cycle placed inside with beautiful flowers in its basket just balanced the aero-act. From a hot-air balloon basket in one corner, hanger lights, sturdy metal chains to hold the furniture in place to the chance of dining in raised mid-air swing style, everything about the ambiance of the cafe spells exclusivity.

Sky Waltz Cafe Jaipur

We ordered for a spinach, sundried tomato, corn, olives & feta pizza, fish & chips for our non-veg loving colleagues, and Wok-fried wild mushrooms & sesame chilli sauce. The drinks included coffee, and vanilla & caramel milkshake. Even their open-kitchen we noticed had an interesting interior with those uniquely hanging onions and garlic ! While going around the place, we noticed that our pizzas were being baked in an earthen oven in a very nouveau style, and the results confirmed just that! Good-food, rather great food makes the whole trip worthwhile; the fish served with the tartar sauce was succulent. The chef comes with some covetable culinary experience and the continental food is surely their USP.

Come with your friends, colleagues, partner or just anybody, you will love the place. They have lots of interesting theme-based stuff to look around and a board games corner too. If it’s a little late in the evening, the beautifully lit candles and the pure air surrounding the place create heavenly bliss.

All-in-all, it is a thumb-up from us to the Sky Waltz Aviation cafe. With the arriving monsoons, Jaipur surely has found an intimate getaway with the right scientific appeal for the ones interested. The really intriguing part about the place is that the owners plan to make seasonal introductions in the cafe’s ambiance and menu to keep the visitors hooked.

An evening at Padao, Nahargarh !!

It was a Saturday evening and with no planning in mind, we, Jaipur Beat, decided to head to Nahargarh. Jaipurites are always in love with this place, particularly when the weather is perfect; the place gives a remarkable look of Jaipur especially during night.

Nahargarh, jaipur

Before we indulge into real pleasure, let’s have a brief intro about the Fort – Established by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734, Nahargarh is set on Aravali mountain ranges and was once a strong defense ring, creating a tough protection for the city along with other two forts of Amer and Jaigarh. The place became known as Nahargarh, which means “adobe of tigers’.

There is lots of history attached to the abode, incredible design, awe inspiring planning, but what catches an eye the most is the awesome view of the city that fort offers.

Nahargarh, Jaipur Beat

With no time wasted we started going uphill through the zig zag road. While climbing we managed to get the view of Mansagar Lake, which was absolutely spectacular and we knew that much more is in store once we reach at the top.

So we decided to explore Padao restaurant.

It took just 10 minutes to reach the highest point, which happens to be a restaurant called ‘Padao’- this is an open-air restaurant at the top, gives awesome view and also sells drinks around sunset plus veg and non-veg snacks.

Padao restaurant at Nahargarh, Jaipur Beat

As soon as we entered –we were charged with Rs 50/- per head as an entry fee that includes free tea /coffee/coldrink.. If you ask, it’s not bad actually. We parked our car and the first thing we were up to was to get a quick look at the sparkling Jaipur city from the top and pin pointing few of the places that were easily recognizable from the highest point like TalKatora, Birla Mandir, Moti Sons building and lot many.

It was simply amazing, many people were relaxing on the fort’s walls overlooking the city while some were seriously having the time of their own under the sky with no one around to disturb.

From up there the city seems so quiet and peaceful; no doubt it took seconds for us to decide to spendsome more time there.  So we served ourselves free-cold drink (Self Service) and ordered Beer, Pakoras and Chilly Paneer. The sitting area at Padao is all-open with wrought iron chairs and tables. They serve you, but don’t guarantee the place for sitting. Better keep your eyes open and look for empty chairs on your own, especially when it’s a weekend. And let your luck play the charm 😉

Padao, Nahargarh, JaipurBeat

It took a few minutes for us to locate and collect our chairs and finally got our seats at the corner of the top Burj. Our day was made sitting, eating and enjoying with friends.

Some of you may not be aware that several scenes from the movie Rang De Basanti were filmed here.

The place is a must visit for all. We suggest you a few safety tips-

* Avoid going alone and always try going in a group.

* Drive carefully after having drinks, as the road to Nahargarh is prone to many accidents.

* Don’t forget to take your camera along for some amazing photography, as there is no other place in the city that gives such an exotic view of Jaipur.
